The hotel was very nice and accessible to the main shopping area and the golf course and beach with good walking. The outdoor hydropool was excellent, as were the spa facilities. There was a bit of a mix up with the times of my booked facial, so I only received half of it - although the half I received was excellent - it was disappointing to have it curtailed as the staff member had another appointment immediately after. As I had stated the booking time for the facial for confirmation at reception and with the spa staff when we went to enjoy the spa beforehand, I feel the staff should have corrected any misunderstanding at that point, rather than waiting until we turned up (in our view, 10 minutes early, in their view, 20 minutes late) for our hour long appointment.
The food and service in the restaurant was excellent - staff were very professional, friendly and attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. The
A wedding was on whilst we were there and we had the delightful distraction of being able to view the bride and party and all their beautiful outfits whilst we were dining at a small bay window, overlooking the gardens and adjacent to the function suite.
The breakfast too was of very high quality and expertly served by attentive staff.
The views from our room over the garden, golf course (players, greenkeepers and dog walkers) and Firth of Forth was lovely, panoramic and diverting.
Our room (131) had an adjoining door (which was locked) with the room next door but attention needs to be taken to make this soundproof. Shortly after falling asleep, I was wakened by sounds I should not have been able to hear in the adjacent room and their privacy was seriously compromised).
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and experience and would recommend this to our friends.
This is a beautiful hotel with amazing views. I went for an overnight stay with my boyfriend, we both had hot stone massage and thought it was the most amazing treatment experience. The relaxation room was brilliant too, so relaxing. The food in the John Paul at the Marine restaurant was outstanding and the service was excellent. Breakfast the following day was delicious too. Overall a brilliant stay, would definitely go again and would recommend to friends and family.
Stunning hotel location; beautiful public areas; great food and an amazing breakfast; fantastic spa facilities. A great hotel for a relaxing break.
Only critical comment would be on the rooms - while the rest of the hotel is 5*, the rooms are only 3*. They were clean and everything just a bit small and tired.
Overall a great hotel and would definitely recommend just don't have great expectations of the room!
Good points: Friendly welcome, free parking, glorious beach on doorstep, comfortable beds, wonderful hot stone massage, fun hydro pool, food good
Not-so-good points: Very slow service at dinner, shower in room had no pressure
We loved the sauna/ steam room and ice room. The out door pool was very relaxing too. Overall we enjoyed the whole experience!
