HOUSEKEEPING ENTERED ROOM TWICE WITHOUT PERMISSION DUE TO POOR COMMUNICATION IN HOTEL - DO NOT STAY HERE!
Visited the Macdonald Crutherland House Spa for the One Night Indulgent Spa break. Initially put in a double room rather than the booked twin room. Easily fixable and the reception staff were able to sort it. Went for a deep tissue massage which was lovely, but lasted only 45 minutes rather than the advertised 55 minutes. Also, found two insect bites on my leg after the massage. Trying to shower in the bedroom was impossible with water being so cold despite putting it up as high as it could go. And if you did decide to brave the freezing water temperatures, you'd be disappointed as there was no hair conditioner in a Spa hotel!
We did manage to get some sleep, despite the poor-supporting pillows, though the hotel seem to be against allowing patrons to sleep, having someone let themselves into our room at 8am then leaving noisily, waking us up. Running to check who had entered our room, we spoke with reception who said that it was probably room service and we were not meant to be in that room. Apparently they hadn't updated the room swap. They extended the check out time by 1 hour, but by the time we managed to relax after been startled out of sleep, we had slept through our breakfast alarm so missed the included breakfast. Used the pool which was nice if a bit cool, and the steam room which was ridiculously hot considering there was no water cooler available in the vicinity. Tried to re-enter my room only for my card not to work, then as checking out, housekeeping AGAIN let themselves into our room, unaware of the extended check out time! Explained out dissatisfaction to the lovely receptionist, who took our numbers as she explained the managers would be in touch, except 3 days later they have yet to be in touch. There are better Spa hotels to go to, and would only recommend here for the food which was delicious. But DO NOT stay here if you want a peaceful, restful night. Sorry for long post, I never write posts but don't want anyone else to have as terrible experience as me, and waste their money.
Was my daughters 18th following day so this was pre birthday pamper, arrived went straight for spa treatments was asked for payment even though payments had been made prior, treatments were great, given white robes slippers and had afternoon tea at spa , staff didnt seem to keen at 5pm to provide this, wasnt very nice but dinner and breakfast were great, room lovely bit hot during night but on whole great stay excellent value for money!
