Our spa day was FANTASTIC SURPASSED MY EXPECTATIONS WITH THE STAFF BEING EXTREMELY HELPFUL which I mentioned when leaving. Although I gave a five star review felt that amount of sandwiches on plate were very meagre and salmon ones a bit stale this did not dampen my experience as for the cost it was AMAZING value for money
HOUSEKEEPING ENTERED ROOM TWICE WITHOUT PERMISSION DUE TO POOR COMMUNICATION IN HOTEL - DO NOT STAY HERE!
Visited the Macdonald Crutherland House Spa for the One Night Indulgent Spa break. Initially put in a double room rather than the booked twin room. Easily fixable and the reception staff were able to sort it. Went for a deep tissue massage which was lovely, but lasted only 45 minutes rather than the advertised 55 minutes. Also, found two insect bites on my leg after the massage. Trying to shower in the bedroom was impossible with water being so cold despite putting it up as high as it could go. And if you did decide to brave the freezing water temperatures, you'd be disappointed as there was no hair conditioner in a Spa hotel!
We did manage to get some sleep, despite the poor-supporting pillows, though the hotel seem to be against allowing patrons to sleep, having someone let themselves into our room at 8am then leaving noisily, waking us up. Running to check who had entered our room, we spoke with reception who said that it was probably room service and we were not meant to be in that room. Apparently they hadn't updated the room swap. They extended the check out time by 1 hour, but by the time we managed to relax after been startled out of sleep, we had slept through our breakfast alarm so missed the included breakfast. Used the pool which was nice if a bit cool, and the steam room which was ridiculously hot considering there was no water cooler available in the vicinity. Tried to re-enter my room only for my card not to work, then as checking out, housekeeping AGAIN let themselves into our room, unaware of the extended check out time! Explained out dissatisfaction to the lovely receptionist, who took our numbers as she explained the managers would be in touch, except 3 days later they have yet to be in touch. There are better Spa hotels to go to, and would only recommend here for the food which was delicious. But DO NOT stay here if you want a peaceful, restful night. Sorry for long post, I never write posts but don't want anyone else to have as terrible experience as me, and waste their money.
Was my daughters 18th following day so this was pre birthday pamper, arrived went straight for spa treatments was asked for payment even though payments had been made prior, treatments were great, given white robes slippers and had afternoon tea at spa , staff didnt seem to keen at 5pm to provide this, wasnt very nice but dinner and breakfast were great, room lovely bit hot during night but on whole great stay excellent value for money!

When I phoned to book my treatments they had no idea about my booking. I was then told they didn't have any space to fit our treatments in so would phone me back in an hour... two hours later still no phone call, so I phoned them back three times to finally get an answer to be told again they would phone me back soon in the next 10-15 mins. This took 40minutes for them to phone me back and was told we couldn't all go for our treatments together. This was quite annoying because we were a group of three so meant one of my friends was sitting waiting herself whilst we were having our treatments. Also included in the package was a glass of prosecco, which we did not receive at all or get offered. Very disappointing as we had paid for this as part of our package. The ladies changing room was clean enough but there was a sanitary towel lying on floor. The towels and robes were not particularly clean. Mine was covered in faketan and other stains, this did not make me want to wear it. Now on to the treatments, so after not being able to get booked together I went to wait for my treatment and the woman decided she wanted to take two of us just now instead of later. The treatments were nice. However, it wasn't all that relaxing as the lady was talking to me during it. Also, in my treatment room I could hear everything going on around me such as a hand dryer which also wasn't very relaxing. After talking to my friends after the treatments we all found out that we all got different things done and got asked to do different things regarding to keeping swimwear on or off. Also everyone else had a shower in their treatment room to use to wash off after being exfoliated but I had to leave my treatment room to use a shower that the lady put on to cold instead of warm. That also was not very relaxing. The loungers around the pool were also quite grubby and could've done with a good clean. Furthermore, the swimming pool was meant to be heated and it definitely wasn't. Apart from that I enjoyed my girly day with some friends.
