I had a very relaxing day with my friends. My facial and head massage were fabulous. I didn't want it to stop! The 3 course lunch was excellent and I couldn't fault the food or service.
The changing room in the pool facility was very tired and I felt let the hotel down. Fortunately we managed to get a room which housed about 6 lockers. The room was lovely, but very small and with 3 of us in there, offered no privacy when showering and was cramped when we were getting changed.
That said, for the price we paid, it was excellent value for money. It wouldn't have been if we had paid full price.
Being a busy mum, my friends and I try to squeeze in spa days as often as possible. Over the last few years we've tried quite a few but Solent hotel is by far our favourite venue! So many times hotel spas don't think about the 'relaxation' aspect of a spa day. They shove you in a corridor, in your bath robe, hair slick with oil, acne on display and expect you to be able to relax as the business man clatters past, running into your shins with his wheelie case....at the Solent they have a lovely relaxation area tucked away from the grind of the hotel, with plenty or beds/chairs, that looks out over a wood - it does get busy but it's rare that there isn't anywhere to sit in this area. You can also sit in the conservatory and round the pool so it never feels over run by spa goers.
My massage was incredible, I asked for a 'as hard as you can go' pressured massage, as I can't bear it when therapists tickle you....and she was true to her word! It was brutal, but every stress knot in my back disappeared for a few days after. I'd thoroughly recommend Solent Spa - money well spent.
