It was a therapeutic day for me and I enjoyed all of it, just wish some other spa users had not been talking incessantly and I thought loudly in the jacuzzi area. The shower not working in that zone was a little inconvenient and those in the changing rooms are not too pleasant. The gym area looks tired and one rowing machine isn't working properly. But the massage treatments and lunch were wonderful!
I had another Swedish massage from Laura at the Connaught hotel in Bournemouth, quite simply the best massage I have ever had by far, just book one you won't regret it.
A nice way to spend a Monday all in all! There was a strong smell of chlorine as we exited the car in the car park so we knew we were in the right place... the hotel entrance was well presented and it felt like a good place. We should have arrived 15 minutes before our treatment but had booked so long ago quite frankly we'd forgotten, we certainly felt the displeasure from the spa receptionist who hustled us into the treatment room before our feet had touched the ground. (Might I suggest a reminder call a day or two before for times?)
Treatments were excellent (I actually had hot stone massage and my sister had an Indian head massage) and then we made full use of the facilities which are reasonably well up to date (the lockers have seen better times probably when Grange Hill was aired). My only criticism is with only 6 beds and at least 10 guests to the spa (on my count), that if you got a bed you'd best not get off of it!! The area around the pool was quite small.
Lunch was good with a friendly waitress and a nice ambience.
Before we left we had the free coffee which we had to ask about (there clearly wasn't time to offer us on arrival *cough*) and the only thing I'd say is we'd have happily bought more treatments or drinks but there was no upselling - I'm sure other guests could prefer this but I felt it was a missed opportunity!
Thanks for a nice day.
Everything about this day was superb, the staff were friendly & helpful. The food was delicious, & the 2 treatments I had were excellent. My only one small criticism would be insufficient seating in the pool area. It's a lovely big pool, & I realise space is limited, but 3 of us shared 1 bed!
A birthday treat so not aware of cost. It was let down by: shower in pool area being out of order, not enough seating around the pool and no hook on back of loo door so you can keep the dressing gown off the floor/from getting wet. The relaxation room only seats 4 - so is there space to have a second room somewhere with maybe some magazines to read as I forgot to bring anything with?? Otherwise great, excellent staff with a lovely lunch/glass of champagne/coffee on arrival.
