Lovely hotel with lovely spa had Aromatherapy massage, which was lovely, so relaxing, great staff very professional.
Requested a firm shoulders back Swedish massage. Lyndsey checked if pressure ok i said you can go firmer. her response can i ask why? is it feels nice or you feel it will work more? i said feels better. also told her my lower back needed work. Lyndsey carried on with a medium massage. i have had lots of massages i know what firm feels like. she did do some knots on my neck but very little work on lower back.
at end she asked how was it, i said ok. Lyndsey then went on to give me what felt like a mini lecture, your lower back is tight, what exercise do you do? i haven't worked on you before so don't know you, so didn't want to go full 'welly', i didn't know how your body would respond, firm massages tend to be superficial anyway,if you want firm then book a deep tissue massage next time.
my feelings as a paying customer, it's a hotel massage of course you are not going to know the customer, the customer knows their body and asks for a service you don't provide and then say well i could have gone harder but didn't. i am experienced at having massages. the medium massage was no more than my partner can do.telling the customer why do you want it firmer makes the customer feel stupid for asking. don't have firm to tick on your check in form if you can't or won't give it. i didn't get what I asked or paid for.
would go back but definitely would book with another masseuse.
Not enough seating whilst waiting for treatment but overall an enjoyable experience
