My first visit at Beauty Box was not only a mediocre but more of an underwhelming experience. It was my first time getting a Shellac manicure and the result is not really what I was hoping for. 4/10 nails have bumps in them which I could only see in the daylight after I left the salon. When I am getting my nails done I would like to receive a result which outperforms my own skills in doing my nails. This however, did not happen.
The edges are not even and one can see the different layers of the polish on the sides as they did not cover the whole nail and the polish was not applied evenly.
Additionally, I saw that there was an air bubble in the polish so I made the nail technician aware of that. Her response was that I should not worry because putting the top coat on might change it.
After the top coat and the last cure the bubble was still there. The nail technician after that offered to do the nail all over again but I was already in a time crunch and did not see the other bumps.
Generally, the manicure itself did not meet my expectations at all as not enough excess skin was removed and the cuticle work was not particularly well done. I was hoping for a bit more perfection in regards to the polish as well as the manicure, especially as the polish is going to stay on up to 2-3 weeks.
All of this, in regards to the price of £27 (I had a £8 student discount) I think is not worth it at all.
I am not planning on going there again.
Treatment was quick but the therapist stayed in the room afterwards while I got dressed instead of giving me privacy which seemed odd to me. Would come back as good value for money.
