First there was a mix up, and the appointment time I booked on treatwell turned out not to be available - the hairdresser contacted me to reschedule last minute.
I came wanting a keratin straightening after I did it at home and it only worked on the lengths, not the ends of my hair. On the way to the salon I concluded that it probably didnt work on the ends as they were fried beyond repair, or maybe they were overproteined from various keratin treatments I've been doing to straighten it. Hair was brittle which is normally a sign of too much protein. I hesitated about the treatment, and decided to consult with a hairdresser - a more senior hairdresser was brought in by my junior stylist, and she assured me that there's no such thing as too much protein in the hair... Which I know to not be true, as hair requires protein&moisture balance to be healthy (and it is possible to under or overdo on both, which worsens hair condition), so hearing it from an allegedly senior hairdresser really put me off...
I hoped for professional advice but in the end was not given that and had to decide myself. I decided to not have the treatment and to just have a haircut to get rid of the fried ends.
Rachel, my junior stylist, gave me a nice haircut the shape of which will make it easy to grow the hair out (which is my aim). As the treatment was booked with a 40% last minute discount, the same discount was applied to the haircut - so I paid only £18. She also recommended and sold me a fantastic conditioner to rebuild my poor damaged hair, and it's price was not inflated but on par with prices online.
Once my home keratin treatment washes out I would return to this salon - they use Kerastase keratin, which is better quality than a no-name brand I used at home. Rachel was also very careful with the haircut, I'd go back to her.
