Grand Hotel, Eastbourne part of Elite Hotels

Affectionately known as The White Palace, the hotel commands breathtaking views of the sea and the dramatic cliffs at Beachy Head.

Grand by name but not by nature, The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne is not only the only 5 star luxury hotel to be found on the British coastline, we’re also one of the friendliest. The Grand is a landmark on the Eastbourne seafront, where we have been looking after generations of returning happy families, and we often welcome back parents, who first stayed with us as youngsters, checking in with children or grandchildren of their own.

The Grand stands out amongst other Eastbourne hotels being only a short walk from the Pier in one direction, and the glorious Sussex downs in the other, so we are ideally located for exploring this charming corner of East Sussex. Few hotels offer such a complete range of leisure facilities including a luxury outdoor swimming pool, special holiday packages for children and a choice of dining options that includes arguably the finest gourmet restaurant on the entire south coast.

However, we believe it’s our unique blend of friendly service that’s just as important for bringing families, business people, young romantics and anniversary couples back to The Grand Hotel time and time again. Many of our staff have been with us for ten or twenty years or more. It’s as if they find The Grand just as hard to leave as our guests do.

Music in pool are, magasines (like Elle etc) and some small snacks like fruits would give more value. Staff was lovely and food/drinks very good. For the price we paid I would have waited bit more but because of the staff and food/drinks the overall experience was 4*

A very grand building with helpful staff, comfy beds and a delicious breakfast. The spa was surprisingly spacious with good facilities.

Staff and service were second to none. The hotel was clean and decor and facilities were to a high standard. Breakfast was amazing. The only thing I could fault was that the massage wasn't for the full time as advertised!

The hotel is very grand by nature with all original features. The furnishings match this style and it makes the hotel have a period feel to it. We were taken by surprise when upgraded to a suite due to our visit following our wedding & a congratulations card was a lovely touch. The sea view from balcony was exceptional. Great location and the staff could not do enough for you, all very warm and polite.

Great hotel, friendly staff, spa facilities were small but wasn't very busy allowing my husband and I to enjoy the pool, steam room and jacuzzi. A really pleasant stay by the coast, we both felt relaxed and the service around the hotel was first class. Being 5 months pregnant , they didn't have any suitable massages so I opted for a 30min facial, which really good.

Location is great too, right by the sea, pier and lots of places to eat/dine - the hotel restaurant is expensive (£40-£45 per head), but lots of choices in town.

Excellent stay and food was lovely, really great value for money. Was very sad to only stay 1 night, would have loved a 2 night break

The Grand Hotel is a fabulously olde-worlde English hotel. The staff were fantastic - highly professional, friendly and attentive. The ambience was calm and relaxing. The hotel is clean and traditionally furnished and feels very spacious. The bedrooms were large and comfortable, with a small but sparkling bathroom with a decent shower and very thick, fluffy towels and robes. We ate lunch, dinner and breakfast there and the food was good - fairly traditional style.
The spa has a small pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room as well as the treatment rooms. All were clean and enjoyable to use. The women's changing room was tiny and rather cramped - thankfully we could go back up to our rooms in our robes to shower and dress! When the pool area is busy (used by families staying in the hotel), there is not really enough seating/beds around the pool. The treatments were good and the spa staff were lovely. There is also a small gym with some cv equipment, weights machines and free-weights, which was empty when I used it early Sunday morning.
All in all a lovely weekend away!

This is a fantastic hotel. Perfect place for a weekend away. The spa facilities are not really big and it does get a bit busy, it is worth the money. The tea ceremony in the hotel is great too!

Unfortunately my whole experience at this hotel was spoilt by the General Manager, I had a complaint which I don't want to go into as I don't want to get the member of staff in trouble, but when eventually the manager, although he acted as if it was him home, contacted me he was rude defensive and someone who lacks all normal skills of talking to someone, a basil fawlty character shall we say. Apparently he is part of the furniture , well sometimes you need to update and get rid of dead wood.

It was fantastic, we felt like royalty. Just a shame we didn't get to experience any treatments in the spa.
