Maria did my Hollywood wax this time around and she was amazing - when I spoke to her she mentioned that this was her first week at Splash, I hope she stays on because she was very thorough, the room was cleaner, a vast improvement from my last visit.
Good, quick and friendly
Staff was great- results beautiful!
I'm going to start by saying I haven't complained to treatwell or Splash because I'm 95% sure they won't refund me and they can't give me my hair back... so its pointless. I'd also like to state that although I had some split ends my hair was in a very good condition and down to my bra strap. When I entered the cramped, messy and loud club music filled salon I wasn't greeted, just looked at. I told the girl at the desk I had an appointment. When she found me on the system she just pointed at one of the stylists sitting in the corner. She told the girl I had paid for a wash, cut and blow-dry and the girl then asked me if I want a cut. I said yes, she asked if I wanted a wash and blow dry. The front desk girl came back to tell her twice more what I've already paid for. She tried to sit me down to wash my hair while I still had my bags and coat on, I had to ask if I could take them off. While I was doing so one of the other stylists jumped in to use the only hair wash sink so I had to stand around waiting. The hair wash wasn't good. She didn't ask if the temperature was ok and it kept changing. I'm not convinced she put conditioner on most of my hair and the places she did she only let it sit for about 10 seconds. Then we went over to her station and she asked how much I want cut. I said just a trim I don't want much off of it. She gave me a funny look as if to say I have split ends. I told her if she needs to take an inch off to get rid of my bad ends she can but I don't want to lose the length. She pulled another face and said "you like long hair". I said yes. She then cut three or four inches off my hair! By the time I realised it was too late to stop her. I've had a lot of haircuts and I'm always fascinated watching all the detail of checking each section against each other. This girl chopped my hair in four sections... FOUR! It took her a max of 4 minutes maybe. And she just kept hacking. She then used thinning scissors without asking me first. Who still uses those things? My hair is thin enough. Then it came to the blow dry. She didn't use heat protection or any other product on my hair to tame the fizz. She used the blowdryer on the hottest setting to a point where I kept ducking away and saying "its too hot you're burning my scalp". She was also using a round brush which she kept getting tangled and yanking out of my hair while I could hear it ripping. When she finished I realised she had dried the back curly and the front dead straight. When I asked why she said "cause I put layers in the front". I couldn't understand why and told her it looks very odd like I have two different hair styles. After a minute or so of us trying to understand each other she finally made the front curly. My hair looked frizzy and dry and was sitting just below my shoulders. Never in my life has it looked like that after a professional blow-dry. She handed me a piece of scrap paper with her name on, I politely thanked her and I walked out without so much as a thank you or goodbye from any member of staff. All in all the appointment that said it lasted an hour on this website took less than 30 minutes. I honestly wanted to cry when I realised just how much of my hair she's taken off. Especially as I paid a lot of money to get balayage a few months ago so all the light part of my hair is gone. My hair feels thin and uneven. I want to make it very clear that this hasn't happened because I was being typically British and polite, not saying what I wanted. Its happened because a) english clearly wasn't a strong language for her and she couldn't understand me, b) her clear lack of training and experience and c) her frankly not caring. I will never step foot back in that salon.
I was very satisfied with my new haircut.
