I had booked this is April for our wedding anniversary and tried to ensure it was planned well for an enjoyable day. However , We were greeted very well and then the young lady at the desk asked to email the voucher aas she did not have the code . The internet was not very good. Anyway eventually she got the code and then asked me for £45 extra !!!! I teally was not happy aboit this . In fact I was very cross but kept calm and said that is not correct. She then asked for help from a colleague and it transprired that this was her first day. Our treatments were booked at 10 am and we arrived as requested earlier so taht we could fill out any paperwork. At this point we were given a sort of cocktail but not told what it was ... by another girl who started to get us sorted with the paperwork so that we would not be late for our treatments . She then said dont worry about the voucher we will get it sorted . However we were still late for our treatments by about 5mins and I needed the ladies as we had been travelling for90mins . My husband had his first massage and was a little nervous but he went off with his therapist who was very professional and he was very happy with his massage and she was very thorough. My treatment was different and I was quite uncomfortable for about 25mins as she did something to my left shoulder. I was also cold most of the time .I did say to her this is not right and tried to adjust my position. i felt better when i moved on to my back. I think i was was just tense and upset about the whole initial reception debarcle . When it was finished my therapist said you can get up when you are ready . Normally I have been given a five to ten minute period just relaxing on the bed afterwards. I checked my watch and it said. 10:53 as soon as she left .I know for a fact that the massage did not start until about 10:10 so this was not a 55 minute treatment as described. My pet hate about treatments is that they are cut short. If this was due to the incident in reception regarding additional payment then i am really not happy. Anyway I did not make a fuss or say anything at the time because i did not want to spoil our anniversary as this would have affected my hubby as well. He really enjoyed his massaged and i felt that there was an inconsistency of treatment between his treatment and mine.
Afterwards we were told that the initial problem had been resolved and our afternoon tea was organised for us (i had paid extra at the time of booking for this ) we were shown to the changing rooms which were the same as the ones for members and shown the relaxation room and the amber room too which we loved. The pool was lovely but a little cold and the hydrotherapy pool was great but some of the jets were not really working . Still good overall and very warm.
Afternoon tea was nice and there was plenty but noone came and said . Is everything okay or would you like more tea , I had to go and request more tea.
We enjoyed a lovely relax by the pool until 3pm when so young boys came and started jumping in the pool and being generally noisy. This spoils the spa day . Anyway we moved to the relaxation room and it was most pleasant and I fell asleep until 4:30 when the waterfall was switched off and the lights too. We were booked into the hotel for the evening so we decided to go at that point. I was disappointed really and I felt that staff were nice but quite disorganised and I noticed this more when we went over to the hotel. The staff their are amazingly attentive and therer should be a consistency across the hotel and spa.
the swimming and spa pool were brillant so was the afternoon tea in the old hall, would go again, a really nice day
Wonderful dining room, very romantic. Delicious breakfast. Beautiful hotel with great spa. Very good massage. Staff were very accommodating and I would definitely visit again and recommend this hotel.
Very welcoming staff who attended to our individual needs throughout. Very relaxing environment. Delicious afternoon tea. My personal favourites were the hydro-pool and the relaxation area where I could have just spent all day winding down.
Excellent stay, staff really helpful and pleasant, food was amazing. would definitely recommend. was upgraded to a junior suite which was a real nice gesture. Spa treatments was so relaxing. drinks were expensive though.
