Superb staff from start to finish that made the overall experience a delight. They could have not been more helpful through the booking process and all 5 of us rated highly the treatments we received an the staff that delivered them.
One of the spa rooms was out of order which was disappointing and we all felt that that there needed to be someone who maintained the areas during the day to keep it a little more clean and tidy - toilet / changing areas especially. And to clear water build ups from walkways as they became slippy.
The spa is in a great central location in a lovely area of Sheffield. We would have liked more areas to be able to relax and chat in as a group, but appreciate the limitations of the building.
Overall a very enjoyable visit, thank you.
Initially organising the spa treatments a few days in advance was shambolic. Lady on the phone asked for my name 5 times and had her “system crash” on her multiple times which prevented her from helping us. Finally got through we were told that we could not be booked in for treatment, we questioned this and spoke to somebody more competent, she explained that we had already been booked for the next day, we managed to make this work.
We arrived at the hotel and all seemed well other than the parking was going to cost us a further £10 which we weren’t aware of, the receptionists direction to the local NCP car park wasn’t all too descript.
We then went for our evening meal, the waitress was straight over to us asking if we were ready to order, we had to ask for more time twice. At no point were we offered any drinks, we had to ask to order drinks.
We then ordered a starter, along it came with no trouble, the food was great.
We ordered our main and waited some time, no offer of more drinks, we had to ask. After 25 minutes we were told the food had been thrown in the bin and there would be a delay. The main meal then came along which was pleasant.
We then ordered our desert and again waited 40 minutes (no drinks offered) we asked what was going on with our desert. None of the staff had any knowledge of us ordering a desert, (Claud took our order).
They quickly scrambled around to sort a desert, but by this time it was 10.45pm and we weren’t in the mood for a heavy desert. They accepted. We had however paid for a three course meal so we asked if we would lose out.
They called the manager over who said he would give us free drinks if we did him a good trip advisor review. In my experience of customer service recovery, this isn’t how to redress a paying client.
Nonetheless we accepted the drinks. Still nobody offered to get us a drink, I eventually went to the bar myself.
There was a lovely member of staff working in the bar called Yasmin, she began making our drinks. She asked Luke Collins for assistance, he refused and said he was busy...he wasn’t, he persisted to wash his hand under the ale tap and said “I’m excited to die”. A very strange experience and didn’t get my finances birthday celebrations off to a flying start.
We then called it a night and went to bed. Neither of us got a great deal of sleep with the chaotic sound of parties coming home through the night like clockwork.
Breakfast was however a nice experience and they couldn’t have done more for us.
In the end we had a lovely spa experience, both of the staff members we had were great.
Would take advantage of one of these packages again, just maybe not this hotel.
