Good work as always. Staff attentive to my needs , asking if the colour and shape was what I wanted and making retouches if necessary
Short version: Tanning booths ok, facial very underwhelming. Very stressful for newbies! Long version: I've never done anything like this before (apart from getting my hair cut), but I wanted to do something to treat myself and booked myself in for a facial that was recommended for people who want to try a bit of everything, as well as a sunbed. I have anxiety, and my own appearance and body is a big trigger for that - which means that I tend to avoid being able to see my own body as much as possible, which is all right during the colder months but becomes impractical in the summer. I'd been feeling particularly negative about my appearance recently, and what gets the most scrutiny is my face given that I can't wash my hands without seeing my face in the mirror - usually I end up with cuts and marks all over my face from picking at it, but I'd managed to resist picking at any bumps and blackheads on my face for a few weeks and getting a professional to sort them out was my way of rewarding myself for it. Based on these things I thought some (fake) sun to look a tiny bit less like a walking corpse and make any imperfections less noticable, and a facial to get rid of any blackheads or clogged pores would be the perfect treat and I booked in for 15 minutes to use a standing sunbed (for either 6 or 3 minutes total in the actual sunbed) and then a half an hour facial. I did feel quite anxious about the whole thing but also excited for the results - i just wanted to be able to feel okay whilst not completely covered up for once. I looked up how to be best prepared and made a point of getting up early to exfoliate, shave and moisturise every inch of my body to ensure I was as primed to tan as possible. I arrived on time (five or so minutes early) and was given a form to fill in about my skin type. I said I didn't know the answers to most of the questions and was told that the person doing my treatment would go through the whole form with me and we'd fill it in together to come up with a plan for what would be good for my skin. I was then sent upstairs to a room where I was told to put my stuff down and lie down for my facial treatment. When I explained that I'd actually been booked in for a first-time sun bed session beforehand I was told that you can't get a facial and use a sunbed on the same day. I understood why you wouldn't want to get a facial before using a sunbed as it'd just undo all the facial goodness, but I'd specifically booked to use the sunbed BEFORE the facial so that my face could get some colour and my pores might be opened slightly so the facial would be even more effective. However I was told that I also couldn't use the sunbed beforehand and that I shouldn't have booked both treatments for the same day. By now it was about 10 minutes into my 45 minute appointment slot which was supposed to include first 15 minutes for sunbed (including being shown how to use it etc), and then 30 minutes for the facial. I wasn't given the option to decline the facial in favour of the sunbed (which really was my immediate priority and what I was most excited about, given it would affect my whole body) and was told to get ready for the facial (i.e lie down with shoes off). The facial started without any discussion about my skin or what I might be looking for, even though I hadn't filled in those answers in the form I'd been given as I was told we would go through them together. I also wasn't told what it would include. What followed was something along the lines of cleansing and toning (which I'd done literally 10 mins beforehand just before I came in) and then a mask which was left on for 10 mins where I lay there wondering what was going on and when the extractions would be, and the professional tapped away on her phone. Then the mask was removed and there was perhaps more cleansing and toning before a moisturiser. The whole thing took a total of 20 minutes, half of which was spent just letting the mask do its thing. Given that I'd forked out about £35 for the treatment I was really disappointed because it was all stuff I could have easily done at home by myself or even asked my boyfriend to do - the thing that I'd really wanted was extractions and that didn't happen. I left the place feeling really disappointed because I'd ended up paying for something completely different to what I was looking for. I ended up going to a different place around the corner who were much nicer and paying an extra £20 just to use their tanning facilities - after they assured me that having had a facial beforehand wasn't a problem at all. I came back to sheer bliss a few more times to use the stand-up sunbeds which are effective and affordable but still never really got an explanation for what exactly to do (even though I said I'd never done anything like this before) and one of the times only getting half as long as I'd paid for (I wasn't given a refund but given it would've been for about £1.50 I'd felt like a bit of an idiot even asking for it...). So overall I'd say that the place is good in terms of what they can offer facilities wise - the sunbeds are effective and the prices are affordable, but it just didn't really cater for what I was looking for and wasn't very accessible for a beginner with anxiety!
Good job
Great place.
