Charly Allen is an excellent Beauty Therapist in Brighton who joined Sarah Hurst Skin & Beauty in October 2014. She graduated from Sussex Downs College in Lewes after completing three years training in Hair and Beauty, completing her NVQ Level 3 amongst other qualifications. She has been really busy since starting with us ensuring that she has trained in our treatments and product ranges. She is excellent at skin treatments, waxing and electrolysis. What treatments do you like doing the most? I thoroughly enjoy doing nails, manicures, pedicures and gel. In the future I hope to learn more on nail extensions. I also enjoy doing electrolysis for clients, the treatment takes time but the outcome for the client is most rewarding. Environ, Jane Iredale and Caci are treatments that I have most recently been trained in. I have always had a passion for make up and doing brides on their big day! Environ and Caci facials are another passion of mine, the change you see your client go through in the process is outstanding providing real results. What do you like doing away from work? When I have spare time away from work I enjoy spending time with my friends down my local stables, taking care of their horses and going for lovely rides around the country side. A perfect way to clear you head from the busy life of a therapist! Why do you enjoy working at Sarah Hurst Skin & Beauty? Working with Sarah has been a massive step up for me, the progress I feel I have made already is amazing. She is an good employer and her hard work towards the staff and team is very rewarding. Sarah Hurst Skin & Beauty is a lovely friendly place to be working with both the team and the connection with the clients, getting to know the different clients you work with on a day to day base. The salon also likes to keep up to date with all the new innovation, products and techniques of the current beauty industry.
Rasana joined the Salon in November 2014. She relocated from London to Brighton, where she had gained 6 years in the Beauty Industry, and has worked with our Environ and Jane Iredale ranges. What treatments do you love doing the most? The treatments I enjoy doing the most are massages, facials, waxing, manicures and pedicures. I love making clients feel good about themselves with my treatments. What do you like doing away from work? When I am away from work in my spare time I love cooking, watching movies and enjoy playing games on my Playstation 4. I got married in July 2014 and moved to Brighton so still being new to the area I also like to visit different parts of Brighton and go for a walk with my dog. Why do you enjoy working at Sarah Hurst Skin & Beauty? I have been qualified as a beauty therapist for many years and have worked in several salons and now I have joined the team at Sarah Hurst Skin & Beauty. This profession has been the most fun profession to work in as we get to meet all fun and interesting clients. Working at Sarah Hurst Skin & Beauty has given me an opportunity build up my confidence and knowledge further by providing various training and courses.
Sarah Hurst is the director of Sarah Hurst Skin & Beauty and qualified as a Beauty Therapist in 1988. Since then Sarah has consistently upgraded her skills to the highest of standards and ensured that he knowledge of the industry is up to date. We caught up with Sarah to ask her a few questions: How has Sarah Hurst Skin & Beauty evolved? After finishing college I worked in a high profile chain of salons in London before taking the brave step of setting up on my own at the age of 19. Initially I did mobile work but later set up in a spare room in my home in Brighton. This worked well around my family commitments. However I outgrew this as my family has been growing up and my business expanded and therefore I set up Sarah Hurst Beauty Studio in December 2008. This was hugely successful and with only 2 treatment rooms it was time to expand in early 2015. We therefore moved to a local premises, fitted it out to a high standard, have 4 treatment rooms and rebranded as Sarah Hurst Skin & Beauty in order to focus on the specialised skin treatments that we love so much! Why do you love the Beauty Industry so much? It’s an amazing industry and so people focused. I could never have sat in an office all day! It isn’t about vanity, it’s about improving confidence so that your true personality can shine through. Certain cosmetic conditions can massively effect self esteem. The industry is constantly evolving. I also love providing an amazing exerience to our clients. I love learning so it’s great to attend training courses to increase and improve our skills and knowledge and provide new, ever more effective treatments. How do you keep up to date with the changing trends in the beauty industry? Oh, numerous ways including reading professional magazines, attending exhibitions and putting myself through lots of training courses. I have also taught at Sussex Downs College in Lewes, focusing mainly on electrolysis, body massage and anatomy and physiology. What does the future hold for Sarah Hurst Skin & Beauty? We have expanded rapidly even with the current economic climate. Having only just relocated I am just excited to grow this new business. Having several new therapists on board I am always looking at ways to expand their roles and providing innovative treatments, so as for the long term future? Watch this space………
