This was my first visit to Safiya’s and I booked in for a Swedish massage. My initial impression of the spa was that it was clean, welcoming and busy with customers! I was greeted in a friendly manner and asked to take a seat. I filled in a health questionnaire however my therapist didn’t ask me anything further about this in the treatment room so I had to bring it up myself. My therapist didn’t speak nor understand English very well. I was asked to lie on the bed under a duvet. There was white tissue lay down on the bed for hygiene however no fresh towels to separate my body from the duvet which concerned me. The treatment room itself was well decorated and comfortable. The therapist did ask me about anywhere I’d like her to concentrate. Throughout the massage my therapist kept coughing. She also realised she’d left the lights on and switched them off, then it was too dark for her so she switched one of them back on. Then I heard the air con being switched on. I also heard her trip/kick the foot stool that was near the door. I was also very aware of the noise from the reception area and the bleeping from the front door when it was opened and shut. It was very difficult to feel relaxed with all these things going on and as I turned over from my back onto my front I could see the door to the treatment room was half open! Her actual technique was very good and I believe it was an oil that was used which made the massage really relaxing. I did get a lot of oil on the back of my hair though which I didn’t like at all. After the treatment finish I was offered a drink and left to get changed. As I was getting dressed another therapist walked in on me by accident. Safiya’s has the potential to be an amazing salon in Bolton as it has a lot more facilities than most however I felt as a whole it wasn’t a particularly slick operation. The ambience is poor, I was concerned about the lack of hygiene with the duvet and there was no in depth consultation before the treatment. I’m someone who books in regularly for massages and this experience was very underwhelming compared to many other salons in Bolton and spa days that you can book online.

Visited for a facial wax. The woman didn’t seem to know what to do and asking me. Then went on to burn my skin with the wax on my right side which I only saw when I got home as she decided to bathe me in aloe Vera!! The therapist doesn’t wear gloves which tells you about the cleanliness and they re use the same wax stick. My skin was clear before the visit and now it’s all dry burnt and got spots everywhere the therapist touched my face.
