I have been to the Rosebery Rooms twice. This review will touch on both experiences but will focus on my last experience. Rosebery Rooms is a little underground day spa down a set of stairs on the corner of Rosebery Ave and Clerkenwell Road. They offer a variety or services at reasonable prices. My first visit to the Rosebery Rooms i had a half hour back, neck and shoulder massage, a half hour facial with oxygen and my eyebrows threaded. I had the same therapist for all treatments and stayed in the same room. All treatments were fantastic, the massage was one of the best i have had and the facial left my skin feeling divine. The room was on the small side but was comfortable. I wish i remembered the therapists name as she should be highly recommended. I rarely go back to the same place but when a deal came up i was hoping for an equally good experience. My second experience was a little different. It was difficult to make a booking as they were clearly quiet busy. The receptionist was rather short on the phone and disinterested but we managed to find a suitable time. My treatment on my second visit was to be a massage, Facial and Pedicure. On arrival i was asked to sit in the waiting area. I was early and took advantage of the magazines. Two of the therapists were discussing not being sure who was doing the next customer and not having enough staff. One was quite highly strung and a bit panicky, they were also complaining how busy it was and how it was hard to organise and cope. This was not the chilled atmosphere i would expect from a Spa. It was 10 minutes after my session was due to start before the non panicky one showed me to the therapy room. I was secretly hoping for the same therapist as last time but was not disappointed with the massage. It was as good as the previous massage i had at the Rosebery Rooms and was not cut short due to the later start. The facial was also good and done by the same therapist in the same room. After these treatments i dressed and the same therapist started on my feet while i was sitting up on the massage table. The panicky therapist came in and asked for my therapists help and they were gone for a couple of minutes. The ‘Pedicure’ was not really a pedicure. It was a file and paint. There was no cuticle work, filing of rough areas or moisturising of the feet. I could have done a better job by myself at home. If i had known the pedicure was this pants i would have asked for a double massage. After the Pedicure i was to see someone about my skins condition, the panicky therapist did my consultation but i felt it was more of a sales pitch for the products than giving me any real insight to my skin. When going to pay i had to wait about 15 minutes until another therapist could serve me as either my or the panicky one didn’t know how to process the voucher. The therapists seemed to be so distracted when i left that i had to remove the cotton wool from between my toes myself and i was not given a lipocav voucher, there was not even a mention of it, on top of this the toilet was not working and i had to go above ground to the hair salon to use theirs. The high lights of my second visit was definitely the massage followed by the facial. The overall experience was let down by the haphazard and chaotic service and the pedicure. Would i visit again? Yes, the massages and even the facials have been great on both visits. I would even consider paying full price for them as the prices are quite reasonable. I would certainly avoid a pedicure. Maybe i got unlucky on my second visit for atmosphere. I would give them a second chance.
This is my second attempt to use MobDaily Deal Voucher. The first time they made a mistake with the booking so I gave them benefit of the doubt and re-booked. Booking is not easy as impossible to get through on the phone so I emailed. I arrived on time and had to wait 30 minutes and was told was due to other clients arriving late on the day. The therapist tols me later it was because previous client who had not booked for certain treatments was allowed extra treatments - in my time. I was booked for 30 minute massage and mini-mani and pedicure. Therapist didn't ask me about whether I had had any conditions to watch for - which I do as I had a back operation 18 months ago. I had to ask her to be less rough. Then after the massage- which was 10 minutes shorter then it should have been as I was relaxing loud music was pumped through the room apparently by mistake. The manicure and pedicure were awful - she didn't even have nail clippers and had to saw my nails down with a very old used file (usually salons use new files or metal files). She got varnish all over my toes and I had to go home and re-do my nails as the varnish was so thick would not dry for hours. All in all the salon looks and feels nothing like the website shows and I would never go again. I wouldn't necessarily blame the therapist as she seemed very over worked. And would say the management need to sort themselves out if they want to compete in the city.
Awful! They cancelled my booking a matter of hours before the time - twice!! When I called up they didn't seem to know when any of their appointments were, and they were unable to find me a suitable time to rebook. They have recently sold a huge number of voucher deals online and are completely unable to keep up with the demand. I am unimpressed.
I bought three treatments for the price of £29. I had a facial, massage and manicure - it was all just average. The nail polish peeled off very quickly though, so not very good quality. Finding the place was a little tricky as I was expecting it to be on ground level and not underground behind a sign in the middle of the pavement.
Very hard to find. No one answers the phone or the message box is full so cannot leave a message, only way to contact them is via email. Once we arrived they had toliets out of use. They used dirty towels. They did not ask any question about your skin, just slapped cream on, which then caused a reaction. English was clearly not their first language so they didn't speak to you about anything, you had to assume what room you had to go in to, where to sit, lay, never asked whether the pressure was ok for the massage. The pedicure was the worst not only did they decide to do this in the reception area, they had broken the skin around my toes and hacked away half my toe nail, very painful. We was there for over two hours and not once offered a drink of water. Will never use again!!!!!
