I came for a patch test the day before my appointment and was told by the business on facebook to pop in any time between 10-7 as they were open. I did this and was rudely ignored by the reception staff and the seeming owner of the salon who seemed to be in a world of their own chatting about weekend plans while I sat waiting to be seen for a good 8 minutes.
Finally the owner left and the receptionist sat flicking on her phone and I had to then ask for my patch test, as she clearly wasn't interested in helping me otherwise. I was then told I had to wait another 20 minutes to receive my patch test as the lady doing my treatment the next day was busy with a customer. Bear in mind at this point there were a number of people free and i'm sure (as this is what happened) that they could all have done my patch test. Anyway, I insisted that I had it done straight away as I was going to miss a hair appointment otherwise, and she begrudgingly went to go and get some dye.
The next day, I turned up and I can't complain about the treatments themselves, as they were all great, and I got what I paid for. However I do have a couple of complaints re the atmosphere.
It must work for them, however I found it super off-putting to not have what I would call salon music around, as this is what I have always experienced, calming music, ect, they had the likes of Kisstory and other radio stations on in different rooms, all of which I just didn't expect in a salon, and didn't really think it gave an upmarket vibe. Personally I prefer soothing music, but I feel it's a view I should give.
Also, from having the same treatments done in previous salons I did notice that with the treatments such as the eyebrow and last tints the therapist put the dye on and then went on their phones while in the room. Personally I think this is very rude, if you want to go on your phone, leave the room, if not talk to the client, they're super bored too waiting for 10 minutes.
I was shocked to be honest as I have never seen this kind of rudeness before and felt really uncomfortable.
Also I was waiting outside after my appointment had finished for my boyfriend to pick me up and I was SHOCKED to see a window open at the back of the building from one of the salon rooms and someone just drop a sweet wrapped out of the window on to the street below. I don't think this needs any more said about it, as it's completely disgusting behaviour, just use a bin.
I had a facial at Brown Cow with Laura. The facial was great and very relaxing. My skin felt good afterwards. Therapist was friendly I would definitely recommend.
