I was so pleased with the service received from the Hair stylist at Ourah! I went for a relaxer touch up and Olivia was flowing with information on maintaining my hair and digging into the cause of my hair issues recently. I definitely left better and will gladly recommend this salon!
Sadly the last two experiences have not been great.
I had an appointment with Sonia last year, instead of Olivia for the first time, and whilst I was happy with the end result, it took a good hour to straighten my hair. If I was doing it myself, I'd expect it to be that slow but not in a salon.
On my most recent visit, I had taken out my plaits (braids) for it. I suggested using a wide tooth comb, but she insisted on using a fine tooth, pulling from the roots and I could just hear my hair snapping. Even with suggestion from the owner and asking myself, she was still insistent on using it.
It overshadowed the experience, as I could see so much hair on the floor. Whilst a lot would be dead hair as I'd had my plaits out, a lot of this was now unnecessarily broken and you can't reverse that mistake.
After my treatment, I asked about the condition of my hair, but didn't get an answer, she just asked if I wanted her to put oil in it. What I wanted was the expert to tell me the current condition of my hair.
Then whilst trimming, I asked if a lot needed to be cut, she said it would be too much in one go so she trimmed less, but it would have been helpful for her to include me through, so I was part of the journey and could have agreed to more if it was necessary.
If I come back, I'll ask for Olivia to do my hair as usual.
Had it not been for better past experiences, it would be a two star review based on the last two visits.
I've been attending Ourah salon since 2024 - after a recommendation from a friend.
My hairline was in a bad way following on from two frontal wigs. On the first appt, Olivia assessed the health of my hair and provided expert recommendations for my hair care routine outside of visiting the salon to maintain solid hair health.
My hair has FLOURISHED since visiting Ourah.
I keep coming back because the service is impeccable, from the short waiting time, to the snacks and great conversation!
