Loved the hospitality and the chair
It has been three and a half weeks since I visited Joseph at Gusto Hairdressing in Soho and I am, overall, very happy with the result. Joseph was, as described in most other reviews, very lovely and professional. He does take the time to explain everything, reassure you throughout the process, give you all the advises to maintain the results, he takes care of you while in the salon and is very thorough! No baby hair has escaped the process. The treatment itself is far from being unbearable, and if the smell of the product being heated gets too strong you can use the towel you were given to protect your eyes and nose. It’s worth mentioning that you won’t leave the salon with shiny and light smooth hair but with your head coated in the waxy keratin product. That was honestly the hardest part of the treatment: not washing my hair for over 48h but it was well worth the wait because once you shampoo your hair for the first time, it delivers! Big waouh effet for me, my hair air dried the most amazing way (shiny, soft, smooth and straight - worth mentioning I have fine, slightly wavy virgin hair so that probably helped) which I loved! That being said, it’s not the case anymore after 3 weeks as the treatment wears off quite quickly, which means I now need to blow dry my hair to achieve the same result. Baby hair are starting to show again however I can still achieve straight and smooth hair in minimum time, and the rain or humidity don’t affect me anymore, which is brilliant as we get into winter. Couple of things to be aware of: -description might be a bit outdated so expect to be charged extra for hair length. My hair is reaching shoulder length (growing from a really short bob) and I had to pay an extra £15 upon arrival. -there was no mention whatsoever of a “new” product that can be washed off after X hours. This is a classic keratin treatment for which you have to avoid water for 48h if you want the best results, so make sure you plan your appointment accordingly! -having very sensitive skin and scalp, I had a few “side effects” in the form of light burns (skin peeling off around the face and ears) but Joseph was very helpful and made sure he avoided those areas, and a good moisturiser did the rest. -start looking NOW for a sulfate free and salt free shampoo. It is hard to find but it is only way to protect your newly treated hair. Overall, big 4 stars for the waouh effect on week 1, 5 stars for Joseph and 3 stars for the treatment wearing off so quickly. I do hope however it will last 3 more months and if it does, I will 100% come back and do it again!
Sara was super nice, felt really comfortable with and was very satisfied with my new haircut.
I booked last minute and I don't think the hairdresser was thrilled about that, she was rushing through the entire service and seemed very distracted. But the other two stylist I observed we not that way at all.
I like Gusto Hair Salon, very warm and friendly professionals
