I was really really disappointed with my massage today. Having been before and left a glowing review of the whole experience today couldn’t have been further from it. Had this been my first experience at Nuad Thai I certainly wouldn’t have come back and it is a real shame as I was so looking forward to it and thought I had found a great place.
Firstly, I made the appointment the day prior for and paid the cost via Treatwell. All confirmed. I then received a call a few hours before asking if I could move the time - that didn’t bother me too much as it happens and it was only by half an hour.
But what did bother me, was that I was told the prices had gone up so I would have to pay the balance when I went to get my treatment. I asked why and she said because they had put their prices up. Which is obviously fine. But I had already booked and paid for my treatment. I would have paid the higher price had that been the one advertised but it wasn’t - especially having loved t last time - but that wasn’t mentioned at the time of booking so I said that it wasn’t acceptable. She said this time she would let me off as she understood but I don’t understand how I can buy something and then be told I have to pay more when i get there.
This time the massage was simply not good at all. It didn’t feel like a Thai massage in any shape or forms I had asked for firm pressure and specific attention on two areas. I would say he didn’t pay any more attention to those areas than anything else. No particular deep massage was given to any area and it was more just sweeping movements. totally different from the last massage which was thorough and dealt with each body part well. It also ended with the most fantastic head massage - this one didn’t - there was no head massage - a few token facial movements and then it seemed like he finished too early as he went on to massage my feet for about 10 mins and that wasn’t particularly good.
Compared to last time, it felt like he didn’t know what he was doing. It wasn’t thorough , it didn’t flow, it wasn’t relaxing.
I don’t feel like any of the tension I needed easing left me - where as last time I felt like I was floating in air and she really paid attention to me and gave me the best massage she could. I genuinely don’t believe the person who massages me today was a fully trained Thai masseuse. It felt awkward, fumbled with lack of attention or direction.
I’m actually really upset because I don’t book massages often - I save up for them as a treat and I really wish I hadn’t bothered. I still feel knotted and tights and my mood is not relaxed - just pure disappointment.
So unfortunately I won’t be back which is a real shame unless some kind of explanation or compensation is offered.
To me it seems that they moved my appointment due to short staff and filled it with someone who was not a specialist Thai massage therapist.
I raised my concerns to the lady on reception - she apologies and said she was sorry but said I should have seen the same lady if I wanted the same massage . She didn’t have a record of the person I saw last time so there is no way I could have done that. And it’s also besides the point - I have had a number of Thai massages and normal massages over the years and this was the worst I’ve ever had out of all of them.
The ambience was also not as relaxing as last time - the reception area was noisy and I could hear lots of people talking throughout so I didn’t switch off at all due to all of the factors I have written about here .
I am sorry Nuad Thai for leaving this review as last time was excellent; but I’m just very disappointed and upset that I have wasted money on something I was really looking forward to and was completely underwhelming.
Really good massage and reflexology. Not as good as my previous session but definitely will return. It’s extremely popular so would recommend booking in advance!
