Upon arrival I was left waiting for twenty minutes, eventually asked to enter a room and undress, and then a beautician entered without knocking. The room itself was dirty, with unclean floors and bubbled over wax spilling down the side of the cabinets. The beautician was friendly, apologetic for the pain which was, of course, unnecessary but kind of her. She repeatedly told me that the warming pot was broken, and even after me questioning it, the wax was the incorrect temperature throughout. I watched as she double dipped the wax stick, and didn't care much for hygiene. The beautician even commented on the leftover hair in a nonchalant fashion, and then said she was done!
The outcome is a lot of broken hair, a frustratingly unfinished wax, burning of my skin and a painful increase in sensitivity. I am no newcomer to waxing, and normally any sensitivity is minimum and will be gone in less than 20 minutes. Instead hours later, I felt painfully burned, had leftover wax still on my skin and not even a complete wax to show for it. Two days on, the result is still worryingly similar with the addition of risen and inflamed irritation.
The only plus side is the concern Treatwell have expressed in taking my complaint as seriously as possible, and getting me a refund.
