I had a mixed experience at Nicky Oliver. The hairdresser I had was really friendly, gave me lots of advice and didn't try to 'up-sell me' on any products or treatments (something I frequently experience at other hairdressers). The haircut was also really fairly priced, I thought, and they used lots of nice products in my hair. However, I'm not very happy with my actual cut.
The hairdresser told me that he would put in some subtle layering into my hair, that I would bearly notice but would give it some lift. At the end of the haircut my hair was curled so I couldn't see the actual cut very well. My hair was actually still quite damp when I left the salon (very much my fault for not raising it as I hate complaining!). When I was home and my hair was straight I noticed that the 'layering' was quite extreme, with about an inch - 2 inch difference in length which is not at all my style :(
As I said, the hairdresser himself was really friendly and helpful, telling me the products he was using and offering tips. However sadly I really don't like the actual cut and feel it's different from what I asked for - so I had a mixed experience.
I would perhaps recommend this hair salon, but recommend that you are really clear with what you want. I perhaps wasn't clear enough (though I did have pics of lots of hairstyles) so will be wearing my hair up for a few months until it grows out again.
