Probably the most bizarre waxing experience I've ever encountered. A few small things set a weird tone (having to get undressed in the room with the therapist, which is unusual – elsewhere you get a few moments of privacy before they knock to check you're ready), but there were some major issues with the whole experience. First of all, she asked if I wanted hot wax or strip wax – I was getting a Hollywood, which should NEVER be done with strip wax – so immediately I was slightly concerned she wasn't totally sure what she was doing. The wax was extremely hot and she made no effort to cool it before applying. She applied the wax in huge swathes, rather than short lines like I'm used to, so when it came to ripping off it pulled my skin in all sorts of wrong directions. She also didn't hold the skin taut before ripping off, so it became extremely painful. She was chatty and friendly, but held eye contact for a slightly uncomfortable amount of time, to the point where I was wondering if she was ever looking at what she was doing! It was a very quick wax, which I appreciated, but at the end she decided to cover me in E45 cream. I only realised too late that she used her gloved fingers (the same gloved fingers that had just been waxing me!) to get the cream out of the pot – I was mortified when I realised that she'd probably done this with previous clients and I was now getting all sorts of germs massaged into my skin. She spent about a minute rubbing the cream into me, to a point where I felt it was becoming weird, then said "OK, you can get dressed now." I got up to see I had a millimetre-thick layer or E45 all over, so asked if I could wipe it off and she refused, said I should just get dressed and it would be fine. Considering the slightly bizarre experience I'd had so far, I just wanted to get out of there so decided to get dressed and go, so my pants then became sodden with E45 as I walked back to the office.
All in all, a pretty unprofessional, unhygenic and unpleasant experience. Will never visit again. Must find somewhere new near work.
