May Fair Spa at The May Fair Hotel part of Radisson Blu Edwardian Spas

The May Fair Spa is a discreet sanctuary located within Central London's plush May Fair Hotel. With spa packages as well as individual manicure, facial and body treatments available, staff aim to give the experience of time being put on hold as soon as you set foot through the door. Drift through the sauna, steam and relaxation rooms before sinking into your choice of treatment, and gently unwinding. Opened in 1927 by King George V, the spa and hotel's new contemporary interior also boasts creations from some of the world's top design houses - including sofas and chairs by Fendi, chandeliers by Baccarat and paintings from St Petersburg.

This was my first time I'd used treatwell vouchers as well as visited the May Fair Spa. Unfortunately, it will be my last for both:
1) I thought Treatwell and similar voucher websites actually offer discounts for services. I paid £170 for the spa visit, while looking on the website of the May Fair Hotel, the same experience cost £150. Hence, why I would think twice before using discount websites again.
2) The service offered 2 hours of complementary use of the spa facilities. With a tiny relax room, well, that was impossible as it was super busy, I couldn't find a spot even though I waited. Instead of relaxing, I actually got kind of frustrated.
3) I did use the relax room for 20 min while I waited to be collected for my treatment. While the room was pretty nice, the staff kept coming in and out to show the facilities to customers while talking loudly. Well, that kind of killed the whole purpose of relaxation.
4) My therapist was 20 min late.
5) The only positive thing was that the therapist was pretty good. My relaxing massage and facial was amazing! She gave me useful advise on skin treatment and I found her overall demeanor super friendly.
Bottomline, overpriced spa visit in a busy hotel that didn't really deliver what it advertised - escape from your busy schedule in a quiet, relaxing environment. 3 stars only because I was super happy with the treatments.

The treatments were great, the service wasn't.

We waited for 20 minutes in the relaxation room to be called in - no one did, and we had to get out to the reception area and remind about ourselves, despite the fact that there were very few customers around.
The steam room for our treatment was somewhat smelly after the previous users.

My friend and I booked a luxury spa at this hotel as a treat. After being escorted into a dark steam chamber we were shown how to apply the mud treatment and told that someone would return in 30 minutes to turn the rainfall shower on. The emergency button was pointed out to us.Time went by and the mud began to sting my eyes and I was beginning to feel a bit claustrophobic. I couldn't see my watch as it was too dark but I was sure it was more than 30 minutes and we really needed to wash the mud off. I pushed the emergency button but no one came. I kept pushing the button as I was reluctant to emerge covered in mud, wearing only a swimming costume! After some time and five presses on the button, someone eventually came. When I could eventually see my watch, I realised we had been in there for over an hour. They had basically forgotten that we were in the chamber!! Anyway, to cut a long story short, after complaining and asking for our money back, the hotel's response has been to say "thank you very much for your feedback" and we would like to offer you another spa!!!! DON'T GO HERE, THE SPA IS TERRIBLE

I was the only person in the spa when I arrived which was wonderful and the heated stone beds in the relaxation areas are heavenly, although I would have liked more time with the Urban retreat to hang out in the spa. It all felt quite rushed.
Although the lovely receptionist said that I would find robes and towels in the lockers, I had to hunt around and only one locker had a robe- so they need to ensure that lockers are being replenished.
However, the staff are nice, massage was great and the afternoon is massive.

I love this place
Well from the moment you ring for a appointment the staff are always happy to accommodate you in anything that you need and are very professional. When I arrive at the establishment they have always made me feel welcome from the moment I step into the door till I leave. I always feel like I am at a friends house chatting about stuff and joking about life, what is needed after a stressful day at work.

When having treatment I have found the girls to also be understanding and help with any questions I have; when I went for a wax I honestly thought that it would hurt and I would be screaming the place down but when I had the treatment I have to say it didn't hurt at all..... so you know that they are professionals and know what they are doing. When I had a facial I felt fresh and felt totally refreshed (what was amazing as I had a heavy night before).

Honestly try it once and you are hooked!!!!!!!!!!!

Great little treatment with my partner to round off his birthday weekend. The staff were really friendly, the moroccan spa treatment was just we wanted and the whole ambience was extremely relaxing.

The Rasul spa experience was booked for me by my sister and from the first moment of contact with the hotel I have had the worst experience ever.

The first time I called to book I was put on hold for 5 minutes and then asked to call back the person on the phone was only covering the spa reception and could not complete bookings. When I called back the returned receptionist advised that bookings could only be made during Monday to Friday and there was nothing available in the next month. She advised I was on a waiting list and I would called for the next available spot.

A month went by with no call....

I called again and advised a different receptionist of the waiting list to be advised this did not exist and that the gift voucher actually only allowed for bookings between Friday and Monday and was given a date at the end of the month. :(

5 days before my booking date I was called and advised the hotel would now be doing repair works in its bar and therefore my experience would need to be cancelled. Again I was told this would possible last a month and that I should call again after this time to make another appointment in a brisk manner and when I advised that this wahanda gift voucher would be coming to an end was advised that I should approach the company who booked it for an extension (There is a clear failure to acknowledge that this was a GIFT voucher and the inconvenience was not on my part)?

To be honest the experience has dulled any feelings I may have had about going to hotel and spa for an enjoyable and relaxing day....

regards,

A still waiting and antagonised customer.

If I could I would give it 4.5 stars, so pretty perfect. Great value for money, excellent treatments and staff were very helpful. I really needed this to de-stress and it did the job. I would recommend it to anyone who wanted great treatments and to unwind. I only wouldn't say it was 5 star as there were a couple of small things which weren't perfect, but they were very minor e.g. there was no hot water for the tea (but someone went and got some hot water for me when the machine wasn't working) and there was a slightly funny smell in the steam room.

We had a lovely time at the May Fair Spa, and the treatment - the Morrocan Ritual, was lovely.
The spa is small, and as it is in the basement there are no windows. Despite that it is still a lovely spa, the sauna & steam rooms were great with a fantastic hot/cold shower experience too. The relaxation room was lovely, with heated stone beds.
Our treatment was great, we applied our own mud and exfoliation in a private room and then had a private steam and rain shower. The chairs are not the most comfortable but it wasn't an issue! The two for one price made it good value for money. I am not sure I would pay the full amount for the treatment
My only real complaint is that the bathrooms smelled a little of bad food. I have no idea where the smell came from, but it wasn't pleasant!!!

Over priced!! Lacking facilities, you would think for a 5* spa there would at least be a pool or jacuzzi to soak in. Spa was very small!! The cleansing ritual package I purchased was in essentially a glorified shower - given a face and body mask to use in your own steam room for half an hour isn't really worth what I paid for. Disappointed.

Really enjoyed this relaxing day, we had the spa to ourselves most of the day and really enjoyed the herbal teas and delicious fruit water. The only improvement would be if there was a pool/jacuzzi, as its a long time to spend in sauna and steam otherwise. The treatment was good and my skin felt great after!
