Hi, I am only commenting now (after almost 2 years) as I was not aware of the safety standards of a manicure at the time. Now that I am, I have to say the hygiene standards in this salon have not being respected during my last visit: instead of using a set of tools previously disinfected, the therapist disinfected the tools she had just used with the previous person. She soaked the tools in Barbicide only 1 to 2 minutes, instead of the 10 required. Given the risks associated with manicure (potentially catching hepatitis B or C for example), this is very irresponsible. I had also noticed that in the previous session she had taken the nail clip out of the cupboard, and put it back after using it, instead of disinfecting it after use (or before). I don't remember if she had used new manicure sticks - it is the rule to use new ones. Ideally a new nail file for each client would be better, but salon do it very rarely. And she didn't wear gloves.
It is a pity, as I liked her very much and she did a very good job, but realizing all that afterwards was extremely unpleasant. Maybe she was in a hurry and made a mistake, and was otherwise careful, but this irresponsibility makes me obviously very suspicious about the salon itself and its standards.
I would advise against visiting this salon, unless management has changed. I don't now if this therapist still works there. I recommend to always check if a salon belongs to the BABTAC (British Association of Beauty Therapy & Cosmetology) and if the therapist has a training certificate.
