I have been recommended Thierry by a friend many years ago after I often noticed she had a really beautifully cut hair that complimented her face- "he's in this little place near Angel, in The Basement" she said." Since my first visit I have never stopped coming. His service is easy-going and professional and the ambient of the place is small, modern and cosy. Thierry is not just a hairdresser but a stylist. I always leave the place smiling and feel deeply satisfied and happy. He understands what suits you best and I have never had a hairdresser I trusted so much, who just understands what I am looking for. We usually have a small chat to discuss what I would like and his suggestions mostly leave me thinking: how did he know this is what I wanted?! The results are usually even better than what I had imagined and this I believe is down to him understanding how my hair type behaves and the cut compliments features and the face. I have had various colour treatments (blond, copper, light and dark brown, lowlights, highlights and all sorts of lengths of hair including the fringe, which you can get trimmed every week free of charge). I have never had so many tips for my hair type that really work, and compliments I receive from even hard-to-please people, so I brought two more friends to The Basement who became his regular customers also. Thierry is a Hair Angel; you leave your appointment with him feeling like a goddess. He listens carefully, and really understands what a client is looking for, guiding them to what would suit them and their lifestyle. His colouring (of my greying hair) is absolutely excellent, and cuts my long and wavy hair really well. I’ve been going to Thierry for years - and he has looked after me and my hair through tough times and good - and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I recommend him very highly.
I love my haircut every time (it's been over 6 years!!). I get compliments in the streets of New York, Hong Kong, and regulatory from colleagues, friends and even my husband and my 20 year old sons have nice things to say. And everyone is shocked when I tell them how little I pay and I have got at least 4 other people to become regulars. I get a very personal treatment every time and full attention, or a quiet time if I prefer so. I also appreciate the quaint look of the upstairs men's barbers. Cannot recommend highly enough.

First of all, the staff are very nice and welcoming, Thierry is a great hairdresser, stylist and colourist!
I have been going with him to get my hair done for over two years now and couldn't be happier. From day one he understood the dynamics of my hair and treated it accordingly. I have gone from short hair to long, from my natural colour to ginger.
He also makes you feel comfortable and welcome at the salon, which is always a plus! I would highly recommend him to everyone.
