I was really looking forward to this day out, i had booked it as a birthday treat with a friend. I was very disappointed with the experience. The staff were lovely, but slow moving and didn't seem to know exactly what was going on. The facilities were okay, but not what i would expect from a spa day. It felt like going to your local pool rather than a paid day out. The decor was half done and there were only sun loungers around half the pool, the other part were what looked like old garden furniture! We also had lunch included, it was a slow service again. When the food came out the waiter said "sorry, chips might be cold". We were so hungry and felt sorry for him as it seemed he was doing lunch alone and so we accepted them. It was an over all let down. Treatment was fantastic, very relaxing. Shame that relaxing atmosphere isn't throughout the spa. Maybe some relaxing music in the pool area, or nice aromas might help. Wouldn't come back as have been to other spas and had a much better experience for same price.

I bought the package as a treat for myself and my sister who is on holiday from Barbados. We enjoyed everything. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had the Indulgence Day which included a scrub and facial and afternoon tea, used the gym and then a sauna followed by afternoon tea in the lovely tranquil garden. We rate the experience very highly. Only complaint is the very small cramped area where the lockers are. Every where else was spacious but people were all huddled into the locker area which became chaotic with people changing whilst other were trying to get to their locker, All in all it was an excellent day and we left feeling fresh and rejuvenated. I will go back.

I booked the rejuvenating package which was great value and included two 30minute treatments. I opted for the back massage, which was really relaxing, and the mini facial, again was relaxing and the beauty therapist gave a scalp massage as part of the treatment. The treatments didn't address any spervision issue but I felt very pampered which was the aim. The facilities have a lovely ambience however I was disappointed by children under 10 years using the jacuzzi and sauna facilities. I needed to retreat to the relaxation room for tranquility and didn't get full use of the facilities as a result. Also the ladies changing room was not maintained throughout the day and was in a state by the end of the day wth piled up towels & roves, no toilet paper in some cubicles and a flooded floor.

Arrived at the Spa at about 10.30 am with 2 friends, got changed and went into the relaxing area, it was very busy, most of the loungers were taken and we couldn't find 3 together, mentioned it to reception but they seemed indifferent. Maybe they need more loungers as there is plenty of room. So we decided to have a coffee but were told they had no facilities in the spa for this (even though there was an area of tables and chairs set up for afternoon tea). We were told we would have to get dressed again and go upstairs to the hotel for coffee, which we did. We came back down to the spa after an hour and it was less busy and we managed to find 3 loungers together. It was inconvenient having to get dressed to get a drink and we lost time in the Spa. The swimming pool was lovely and clean and my massage and massage therapist were great but it was the other things that were a let down and I don't think I would go back.

The spa was great and the spa staff were lovely, very polite. The restaurant staff were very slow but I feel they were being overwhelmed by the weddings going on.

A lovely spa day with the girls. The hotel/spa is beautiful and the whole experience was so relaxing! Loved going to the relaxation room after the massage followed by use of the facilities. The day was topped with a glass of prosecco upstairs at the bar and because it was a hot day, we decided to have our prosecco in the lovely outside area. All the girls had a wonderful day!

I booked the Romantic Spa Break as a surprise for my girlfriend's birthday. From the minute we showed up, we were impressed with everything. I wasn't familiar with the hotel before our stay – I was actually hesitant to book at the listed rate because I thought it would be "just a Hilton" – but it really was a luxury experience.

The hotel itself is a two-floor. The inside is clean, the grounds are well-kept, and the common areas are spacious. The room was amazingly nice, and the champagne and chocolate strawberries in the room were a great touch. Dinner at the restaurant and drinks in the bar were both very, very good. Excellent quality and service for both. The massage and spa facilities were all great. No complaints whatsoever, and I'd even say the above exceeded my expectations completely.

The package included everything we really needed, but we paid about £40 more on extras (drinks with dinner, tips for meals, and a late checkout).

The only downside was that communication between staff seemed lacking. There were three separate occasions where we would have been screwed over if it wasn't for following up:

1. After booking on Treatwell, I called the spa to schedule our treatments as advised (I chose 5:15pm). The day before check-in, someone from the hotel called to tell us we hadn't yet booked our treatments and they only had available 5:00 and 5:30. My booking obviously hadn't made it from the spa to the other department who called me back.

2. I asked the desk in the evening about getting a late checkout. They arranged for a complimentary 1pm checkout, increased from 11am. They said I could pay an addition £10/hour after 1pm but that I'd have to call the desk in the morning to make sure the room was available. I did just that, and the person I spoke to in the morning said we only had the room until 12pm (despite being assured the night before that we were in until 1pm). This got corrected and I was able to push checkout back to 2pm with no friction, but I'd hate to wonder what might have happened if I went down to check out at 1pm without calling first.

3. I also asked in the evening about the breakfast in bed included with the package. The order card in the room mentions a £6 fee per plate to get room service, and hot food is £4 more expensive per meal than the continental breakfast. Fortunately, the desk assured me that both hot food and the room service fee were included in the Treatwell package. However, when I checked out the next day, £12 had been added to the bill. Desk staff quickly removed it when I mentioned the earlier conversation, but it was the third example of someone not doing their job correctly and I was annoyed at having to make the corrections myself.

I would recommend the treatment and encourage an overnight stay, but keep an eye on what you're promised and make sure staff do it right.
