About
My name is James, and I work as a hairstylist in a salon in Leith, where I rent a chair. I have been passionate about hairdressing since I was 14 years old, and I’m now 36. I began my journey as a Saturday assistant, focusing on shampooing clients. I am also trained by Vidal Sassoon. Throughout my career, I have worked in three of Edinburgh’s top salons, taking on a management role at the age of 23. At 25, I owned my own salon abroad before returning to the UK to launch my own Aveda salon, just before the pandemic. As a salon owner, I served as an ambassador for brands such as Kevin Murphy and Aveda. I have a strong commitment to using products that have a positive ethos, are eco-friendly, and promote healthy hair. Having recently returned to Edinburgh, I am in the process of establishing myself and planning to open a new salon of my own. I love all aspects of hair color, as it perfectly complements a great cut. While cutting is my passion, I believe that color can truly enhance a fantastic hairstyle. People often refer to me as a specialist in textured and curly hair, as well as short hair. Ultimately, I am passionate about every aspect of hairdressing!
