There was a special offer for a 30-minute massage and use of all the facilities. So I took up this offer and booked this for myself and as a birthday gift for my sister-in-law's 40th birthday. It was the first time I spent time away from my new-born baby, but I really needed a back massage and my sister-in-law needed to relax as well away from her 3 children. So it was a kid-free 3 hours we spent together. My sister-in-law had the Raindrop massage while I used the gym facilities for half an hour. Then I also decided to have the Raindrop massage, while my sister-in-law chilled out reading and made use of the free hot drinks facilities. The best thing about the Raindrop massage is that they ask you how you'd like to be massaged, whether it'd be a deep massage or a more relaxing massage. I opted for a relaxing massage and the therapist asked me to choose from 3 different kinds of aromatherapy oils. This was an excellent way of personalising the massage according to the smell that the customer prefers and I chose the lavender oil as I like the smell of this and it helps me to relax. The therapist also said that she massages the back of the neck, the back, and back of my legs. She advised that in the 30-minute session most clients prefer to have 15 minutes massage of each of the back and legs. I asked her to just do 10 minutes on my legs and 20 minutes on my back, as my back needed more attention to release the stress & tension from carrying & feeding my new-born baby. When I was laid face down on the bed, my back was covered in towels, and she uncovered half of the back and legs, and poured oil gently over my back and legs. I must admit, I did find this ticklish, especially when she massaged the back of my legs. I didn't realise how ticklish I was and tried so hard not to laugh out loud! Then when it came to massaging my back... it was blissful and I nearly fell asleep... just what I needed. Me and my sister-in-law then had a quick shower before we sat in the steam room to open out our pores, before we got washed again and headed off home feeling relaxed and refreshed... Would definitely do this again if there's another offer.
One of the best massages I have had. Pleasant staff who explained what was included with the voucher I had purchased. I was shown around the venue. Only negative comment I could make is that I think they need new up to date showers and individual changing cubicles. That said, I would definitely go back.
The stone massage was great. Facilities typical hotel, sauna not working properly, no robes available. Why make me put 20 words in
Loved the raindrop massage. It was very relaxing. Really disappointed with the sauna and steam room though. Steam room out of order and sauna wasn't clean. Cold swimming pool and jacuzzi had to much chemicals in that hurt your eyes. I spoke to staff about this but they didn't seam bothered or interested at all. I might only go back for the massage only. It's a shame because my first visit was really nice.
Staff very helpful and friendly. Steam room out of action. Changing facilities very small, but its a hotel spa so understandable. Stone massage therapy was just lovely, a real treat.
