Flawless service from the minute you enter the door! I think this is the friendliest salon I have ever come across in London, with the best cuts and techniques too. Thank you for the fabulous experience.
My experience at Hebe was TERRIBLE.
There were so many things my hairdresser Blessings did that were unprofessional and damaging to my natural afro hair. I would not recommend an appointment with Blessings, all the other reviews seem to speak highly of Jacqui, so perhaps I just got the wrong hairdresser.
Blessings BRUSHED my afro hair when dry, "as I don't want it curling and get tangled on me" ummm it's natural hair as soon as you add water it will curl, so why damage my hair beforehand?! It was plaited into sections when conditiong. These sections were not undone, even when rinsing the conditioning product out and putting styling product in. The plaits were even blow-dryed a bit! I really hoped this was a new haircare approach but the rest of my visit proved this just to be ineptitude.
My hair was over my face for 95% of my visit. It was blown and pulled into all different directions during the blowdry and my scalp felt like it was being hacked at by the comb and dryer. By this stage I wanted to leave but there was no way I could go out in public with hair like that! This is coming from a woman who usually wears her hair in an afro, so is used to big hair.
When pressing my hair I would get told off that my head wasn't in the right direction, despite not being told beforehand where it should be positioned. As a result my head was hit by the straightners and I have slight burns on my ear and several sections of my head.
Blessings and I never had a discussion to share what I wanted done to my hair, despite me booking a haircut. So when she started cutting my hair after all of the above, I was worried. I tried to let her know that I just wanted a trim, to which she interrupted me and said "put your head down". Despite repeating myself there was no acknowledgement of what I asked for.
This is a salon that caters to a variety of hair types, so I don't know if they knew that this approach is not standard or good practice for afro hair. To be completely honest it was humiliating to sit in a salon full of white people looking like an electrocuted Cousin It! Clearly I won't return to Hebe.
