It was an experience to say the least. First of all I arrive and a lady points at a man to walk me round to another salon across the street (I wasn’t aware there were two branches and had my appointment booked at the one I went to) as I arrived at the second salon it looked like it had been put up that day, people and stuff everywhere. I then follow the man downstairs who shouts for the masseuse who appears and brings me into a room. She asked what I wanted first the facial or the massage I said massage she then looked at me almost disgusted and said “you want the facial first so you can feel relaxed from the massage at the end” totally fair enough comment but why ask in the first place!? Anyway we proceed with the facial, the lighting is a super bright and felt quite clinical and as I sat on the bed it felt like it could break on thin wooden legs. There was a lot of outdoor noise (traffic etc) which isn’t anyone’s fault but I thought maybe there’d be some background relaxation music or dimmed lights as a distraction but no nothing. The facial was ok but she used rough sponges (reminded me of car wash ones) and left my face with scratches on which my housemate noticed when I got home. There seemed to be a lot of different treatments being applied rather than a few, she put on one of those sheet face masks with the eye and mouth holes but couldn’t get it out the packet then asked me to do it it all felt very friends sleepover vibe. Eventually she turned the lights down, lit candles and left the room for me to relax with the mask on but sat right outside the door on the so that’s all I could hear. Her phone was on loud throughout the appointment and even after it rang and she received multiple texts she still left it on loud. After the facial she told me to get undressed for the massage which was fine, the massage itself was good but the bed felt very unsteady. She left me to ‘relax’ for a minute and stepped outside to be greeted who I can only imagine is the salon manger/ owner. They then begin a heated conversation about her (the masseuse) English not being great and that “the English girl in there talks a lot and I can’t understand her” bearing in mind I made little small talk after realising her English wasn’t great and she was the one asking questions. She then goes on to say how cleanings not in her contract and she’s not doing it etc and they were back and forthing getting louder so in the end I got up, got dressed and walked out. I’m angry that I prepaid via treatwell as I felt like it was a colossal waste of time and money. Won’t be going back anytime soon.
