Even though my haircut looks good and was happy with the service, I'd strongly suggest that you listen to your customer requirements and do what the customer asks for, not what you think is good without mentioning this before cutting the hair.
I had a picture with the desired haircut and mentioned that I want that but a bit shorter so it won't touch my shoulders and I ended up with a haircut which is slightly longer than the one in the picture :)
