Usually when I get a blow dry, stylists have to use straighteners to get my hair straight however this time the blow dry was so sleek and straight that no straighteners were needed. Will definitely be returning.
Mixed feelings - salon is small, but fairly welcoming. They were celebrating ‘one year in business’ the day I was there, so I was offered prosecco, which was kind. (Sadly I was on a lunch break from work, so couldn’t take them up on the offer!)
My hairdresser barely spoke two words to me, just gesture to the chair, then the sink etc. The service itself was fine, although I wasn’t sure that I was being understood all the time; fortunately, my hair is about as easy as it gets (very straight, fine, mid-long, only a trim wanted, no layers).
I asked her to try and achieve some volume through the blow dry, and that I would love it to be wavy - advising that as my hair is so straight, this would require tongs/straighteners and a fair amount of hairspray. However, she blow dried in sections and just pinned my hair up in curls. I hinted that this would achieve nothing, but she was fairly insistent. The hairdryer was far too hot, and I had to ask twice for cooler air to be used. Predictably, curls didn’t materialise, which was frustrating - probably for both of us, as it took her a while! Volume did - and she slathered on the hair spray - but I rather thought I looked like a mad 80’s woman, with a huge quiff-thing at the front... I ended up buying a comb and taming it myself in front of a mirror back in the office.
Not the most successful time - cut itself seems fine though, and the owner seemed lovely. Would advise against unless you have easy hair and very clear instructions!
