Always a great experience and I love the way my hair is blowdried
My hair was cut by Mo, who was very gentle and considerate, consistently asking me questions on what I wanted.
Maria was very welcoming and did a great job. Looking forward to going back again.
Lovely haircut from Ofelia. Horrendous salon experience. My friend and I booked via treatwell. As soon as we walked in, we stood by reception, the receptionist clearly wanted to be anywhere else other than work as she didn't even greet us, instead just looked up at me and said ''yes?'' To which I said my name and my appointment time. When it was time for my friend Sarah to speak to the receptionist, she said her name and her appointment time, only for the lady Marie (who was colouring a client) to look up at my friends hair and say it is clearly extra long hair and that she would have to pay extra to get it done. It was very hard to understand what she was saying, as she had a very thick accent and was speaking very fast. The receptionist then basically translated what Marie was saying, which was that Sarah's curly hair (not afro) was extra long and too curly. She could do it however my friend would have to pay extra. I told the receptionist that's ridiculous considering my hair is also curly and it is still longer than my friends. If anything maybe she would be under 'long hair' as it touches her shoulder, but no way would it be extra long. Her response was either pay the extra £6 or get a refund. Sarah asked how to get a refund, Marie said via treatwell. She then used an excuse of apparently not knowing how clients look like via treatwell and not knowing the hair type. My friend at this point took this to clearly meaning that she isn't qualified to cut curly hair and said she would like a refund. As I was sitting on the sofa next to my friend I said to her 'I dont think she wants to cut your hair' to which Marie replied (even though I wasn't talking to her) that she can cut my friends her, its the length that's the issue, even after I said her hair is clearly shorter than mine. Then she said exasperated in front of her client 'OH MY GOD' as if I was being so rude to her, when infact she was listening in to our conversation. When Ofelia was done with her client, she came over greeted me and apologised for the wait as I was waiting for some time. I then walked over to her and we started having the consultation. Everything went fine. She even asked me about my friend and what happened and I told her Marie is acting as if my friend has afro hair and she can't cut it and saying her hair is extra long when it's clearly shorter than mine, even when straightened. I told her my friend is not confident in putting her hair in Marie's hands and that she would rather a refund. My haircut went very well. Ofelia was clearly very professional and knew what she was doing and what I wanted. However she did seem a little rude when I couldn't decide if I wanted a short fringe or long layers with my blunt bob. Her response was 'you should know what you want before you book a haircut' although she was the one who during the consultation told me 'we can see how the hair looks when its straightened and if you want we can change a little and add layers'. Also when my haircut was finished she I think made a 'joke' by saying to me and my friend 'you should smile, oh my god you are young, you can't look so serious'. I wasnt serious, however why would I be so happy in an environment that clearly no one who works there wanted to be in and my friend couldn't even have a haircut with me due to the inexperienced Marie. When we left my friend told me Marie kept coming up to her and saying she can do that haircut, that she has done her friends hair before (emphasising as if she has black friends) and that I apparently upset her by saying that she didn't want to do my friends hair. My friend told me she was uncomfortable with how many times she kept saying to her I can do your hair, as if she regretted offering a refund so quickly. All in all my hair is perfect, Ofelia knows what she is doing hair wise. However telling a client to stop looking so serious and smile is out of order as they could be going through a lot of stuff. The atmosphere in the salon is horrific and no one is happy or wants to be there, and all they talk about is how busy they are. The receptionist is very cold and rude, and Marie is clearly under trained, unprofessional and does not know how to interact with customers. I am livid, considering I booked with my friend based on the reviews the salon had. It also make me think could this be a racial problem? As me and my friend are women of colour. Tanya
I’ve been going to Ofelia for a few years now, having my highlights done and I always walk out happy! She is professional and experienced and delivers exactly what I want. I usually add a toner as well for even better colour, and Ofelia always gives great advice for how to take care of my hair, and what treatments to use.
