Great value for Chelsea area
Terrible experience
The lady was lovely, really patient and gave me what I needed
Really lovely staff
Would give 0 if possible. This couldn’t have been a stranger or more shocking salon. I booked a full wash and blowdry clearly staying “the stylish will first wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner before styling”. When I arrived, there was half eaten fruit sitting on the till, a very damp atmosphere, no music nor magazines. No one in the salon spoke English, apart from the owner who spoke broken English and instructed the “stylist” to blowdry my hair but without washing it. I objected to this, stating I’d paid full price for a wash and blowdry. She asked me how much I’d paid, I confirmed the amount and she allowed the “stylist” to proceed to wash my hair. The hair washing itself was strange, in my opinion. The stylist didn’t give what I’d normally call a regular wash, she was lightly running her fingers through my hair but so gently that I could barely feel it. There was no scalp massaging, so to speak. The basin came with no comforting neck piece or cushion, it was cold, angled and hard ceramic - uncomfortable. Ok to the hairstyle- no magazines, no tea, no water offered. No asking which type of style I wanted. I pulled my phone out of my bag in an attempt to show a photo of what I wanted (a smooth blowdry, curled at the ends), nothing requiring a magnitude of skills. The stylist didn’t speak English so was unable to understand until I showed her a photograph of what I wanted. She said she can only do straight hair with the blowdry and that her manager had instructed her that she was only to perform a straight hair dry on me. I was pretty uneasy with this, considering the amount the blowdry costs (which was the same price as a well known brand in Mayfair which was fully booked as I’d booked last minute). Halfway through the blowdry, I could see my hair was frizzy, dry and straight with slightly wavy pieces intertwined. It looked like something I wouldn’t even accept at home, of my own doing. This blowdry was supposed to last me until Wednesday. How could I go into work looking like this? I’ve just started a new job and have paid what I consider to be a fair amount of money for this ‘blowdry’ I wouldn’t have accepted from myself, at home, for free. I quit halfway through and requested a refund. The owner wasn’t here at this point but after pleading for some time, the stylist gave me my money back from the till. I found another salon along the King’s road and had a blowdry done around 15 minutes later which looked great. I received a call from the previous salon owner (strange said salon), who upon me answering the call, began screaming at me in full force for taking a refund. Full on screaming - I mean, I was lost for words. She was completely out of control and I’m full fury. I found this confusing as I’d spent 40 minutes and had a lot of stress put on my plate before an event that evening. I was an hour late for the event and had gone through the stress of searching frantically for a salon after begging for a refund and looking like a homeless woman walking along the King’s road with half a head of wet hair and half resembling Morticia Adams from the movie the Adams Family. The entire thing, including the onslaught of abuse from the owner over the phone afterwards seemed like I’d unwittingly entered the twilight zone. Steer clear!
