A lovely, clean salon. Being Mothers Day weekend, they had lots of treats and drinks available, which was a lovely touch. I attended for curls on dry hair for a wedding that afternoon - the curls were great.
I've visited Geruse before for my nails and had a very good experience. Unfortunately my hair appointment was pretty bad. The staff as usual were really lovely and attentive, but the haircut is terrible. The hairdresser didn't look at my hair when it was dry to see how it falls or discuss what I wanted to change (my hair is very long and curly so there's no point doing this when it's wet and straight). He asked me when in the chair what I'd like after parting my hair dead in the middle without asking where it parts - my hair naturally falls to a side parting. When I said I'd like a trim, he asked me "how" as in straight across or layers, and I said I wasn't sure, but he gave no advice on what would be best (as he hadn't looked at my hair dry so couldn't) so just started to cut it straight. I had to ask him to cut it twice because the first time, the trim was so small that there were still split ends. He also didn't know how to dry curly hair - he put the diffuser on the ends of my hair but didn't ask me to lean or anything so I left the hairdressers with completely wet hair at the top of my head and dry ends. It was a pretty baffling experience and I won't be going again.
This is a nice clean salon with lovely products for purchase. However I have marked it down, because despite making an appointment, I was kept waiting for almost 20 minutes with no explanation or apology. I was further frustrated to discover that the 'client' keeping me waiting was in fact another member of staff, as when her blow dry was finished, she then got up and started working on another staff member's hair! I was not asked if I wanted product on my hair before the blow dry started, and this is essential for me as I have such fine hair, therefore while the blow dry itself was very nice, it did not last long (a couple of hours) as there was not enough product to hold the wave. They had made a big effort with cakes and special treats in the salon for mother's day, but personally, being kept waiting under such circumstances is not acceptable.
