Nice treatment and quiet waiting area. The sauna, pool and jacuzzi facilities were wonderful. Felt more like a gym than a spa day. There was an aqua aerobics class at 10.30am in the morning with blasting music that made it difficult to relax. Was only told we can sit in the quiet area when the class was nearly over.

I stayed at the Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa with my daughter for a few days as we both wanted a relaxing break "away from it all". We also booked a couple of beauty treatments each. What can I say? The whole experience was so much more than we expected. The staff were so polite and helpful nothing was too much trouble. The swimming pool/sauna/steam room/aroma room/Jacuzzi was a treat in itself. The beauty therapists really knew what they were doing. The food in the restaurant was first class rate and the the staff waiting the tables were prompt with their service. I must also mention how clean the rooms were, and how efficiently they were cleaned every day of our stay. All in all, a first class stay. I will definitely be booking again in the near future.

My Mum and I thoroughly enjoyed out 1 night Spa day. The treatments in the spa were great and we were very well looked after. The room is was a good size for a twin, everything you need as well as very comfortable beds and pillows!! We both had a great nights sleep. Dinner was very good and breakfast, however I would advise going before 9.30 as the hot food starts to dwindle. Would definitely go back!!

Lovely overnight spa break. Pool area had enough loungers for all. Clean and quiet. Good treatments - booked 1hr30 each. Therapy area upstairs calm and very profesiional. Would reccommend the spa!

However, book treatments and restaurant times early, they tried to give me a 9pm table!

My elderly mother and I had a very disappointing stay at the Donnington Valley Hotel, Health Club & Spa. We booked a spa overnight spa break on the 20th of August through Treatwell and had expected a stay in a 4 star establishment, unfortunately this was not the case .

We arrived at the spar at about 1.30 and as check-in was not before 3 we went to the SPA, unfortunately although I called 3 weeks in advance the only appointment I could get for out treatments was 5.30 in the evening so we spent the day in the SPA where although the staff were great the Jacuzzi was out of order. After our treatments we went to get dressed and went to check in , this si where our experience was runed.

We were told at check in that our table had been booked for dinner at 7pm, I explained that I had booked a table for dinner yet and due the late appointment being the only one available it was now 6.40pm and there would be no way we would be able to make the booking. The lady at check-in said they did not do the bookings that Treatwell did, I protested that I was not informed of this time by them and now only had 15 mins to get to my room and get ready for dinner. Her reply was somewhat indigent when she informed me that it was not her that booked it and to speak to Treatwell, she followed up with informing us there were no other times and it was the only one they had, if we wanted to eat later we would have to eat in the Bar that was full of wedding guests so not appropriate or more to the point not what we had paid for.

I insisted that there was not enough time, she said we could be 20 mins late but any more and they would give our table to another guest. Given no other option we rushed to get ready and were seated at 7.25, really not the experience I had expected or paid for, the inflexibility of the check in staff and her willingness to just blame Treetwell was disappointing and not very solutions focused.

After a very nice meal we encountered further problems and further incompetence for the same check in staff, we went to our room and found that the TV remote did not work, I called reception who said they would send someone, after not hearing for 20 mins I called back to be told yet again they would send someone. After yet another lengthy wait someone came and verified that yes it was not working and took it away to be fixed, after 30 mins having not herd anything I again called reception only to be told that they could not fix it till the morning so we would have to do without. Again this is just not acceptable for a 4 star establishment, the fact that I had to follow up is ridicules , had I not called would anyone have bothered to tell me we were to do with out ???? and again the lack of solution is just not good enough.

Although not as serious as having my evening ruined there was no yogurt to go with the fruit at breakfast, I asked a member of staff but was told they had run out as they were very busy……. Surly as people book rooms in advance you should know exactly how many guests you are expecting…… it just seemed odd to me….

I booked the weekend in good faith and paid well for it, the SPA experience – even with the broken Jacuzzi – is really being let down by the hotel experience and the lack of professionalism of the check in staff.

As a 4 star hotel I do not think it is too much to expect a TV that works and not having to rush my elderly mother to dinner.

Overall a great venue but the only downside I found was being a spa you would expect it to be quite and peaceful but we had 2 groups of girls shouting and being loud which was the only downside and when staff came through they didn't seem bothered with the amount of noise being made.

Fabulous value. Pleasing decor, fantastic food and menu (especially the bar menu) and lovely spa facilities. A great stay apart from the fact the room was too hot (not a particularly hot night outside) and the air con was noisy so not the best night's sleep.

We loved our Sunday night break here. Facilities in both the spa & hotel were excellent. There was nothing to fault at all. The restaurant was delicious & not over priced. We ended up with an executive room at no extra cost over the standard room we booked. My only gripe would be the staff. When we left the spa on the day we checked out 3 members of staff were sat at reception talking. When I returned my towel, I said thank you & was barely acknowledged by one with a smile whilst the others continued to chat.
I also rang the hotel reception the day after checking out to say I'd left my GHD hair straightener in the bedroom. It took 5 phone calls to 2 people over 2 days for them to finally tell me they hadn't found them. Not enough to outbid off visiting again but slightly annoying.

Had a lovely spa break using the Sunday package. Good value for money the spa facilities really nice although the steam room was out of order on our visit. Massage was very relaxing. My only issued is would of preferred a set menu dinner rather than a price limit £28 as most mains where £17-25 this meant we had to pay an excess. Overall though would definitely recommend a visit.
