Overall I enjoyed my experience at Cutting Crew. The only disappointment was that I booked a 9am appointment and was left waiting in the freezing cold until 20 past when my hairdresser arrived. It was a bit stressful as I was set back on my tight schedule and was not kept informed at all. My hairdresser apologised and blamed it on the bus being late which I understand but seemed a little unprofessional to me. Other than that the service was good, she definitely knew her staff and I liked my hair afterwards. I would consider coming back but not for an early morning slot!
Very polite and kind welcoming. Loved my haircut, just what I needed.
Great cut and blowdry!
I have short hair, and therefore need cuts fairly regularly. In all my experiences, none has left me feeling as upset and badly treated as my experience here. Don’t be seduced by the cheap price here - I would happily have paid double just to avoid this terrible place. First of all, all the appointments seemed to be running behind schedule when I was there. I understand that this can happen because of staff shortages, etc, but no one made any attempt to explain that things were running behind and that I would have to wait a bit. My appointment started 45 mins later than it was meant to and no one explained to me what was going on. When I explained how I would like my hair cut, my hairdresser listened and said that he wasn’t sure he could do what I wanted but that he would try. I particularly mentioned that the last time it was cut, it was much shorter than I had wanted and that I didn’t want the same thing to happen again. I said I liked the shape it currently was (a Bob) and just wanted a bit taken off the ends. What ended up happening was that he cut significant amounts off my hair before I had even noticed what was happening, which in turn made it impossible to have the cut I wanted because too much was gone. The main reason that I couldn’t see how much he was cutting off was because he instructed me to keep my head bowed while he cut my hair. At first he asked me, but I kept looking at what he was doing because I could feel that he was cutting a lot off. Eventually he stopped telling me to bow my head and started pushing it down instead. When he cut around my ears, he pushed them down very hard and never asked whether this was alright with me. I have never been pushed and touched like this before when having my hair cut; I understand that sometimes the hairdresser needs to direct your head, but in the past they have always managed to do this in a gentle and polite way. This hairdresser was so rough with me that I clammed up and was too upset to tell him to stop, I just wanted the whole experience to end ASAP. I can’t stress enough how upsetting and violating this pushingfelt. At the end he admitted that he hadn’t liked my previous cut and had deliberately restyled it, despite me saying that *I* liked the previous cut and wanted similar again. He did not consult me over what I wanted, he just did what he had decided was best. I am also certain that he was rough with me and didn’t do what I asked because he felt under time pressure, but this is no excuse for treating someone the way I was treated here. He never washed my hair at the beginning, despite the fact that I had ordered a wash and cut, and only at the end did he ask me if I wanted a wash. This was in direct contradiction with other customers who I saw having their hair washed before the cut (as is normal!!) By the time he asked, I was extremely upset and wanted to leave. There was also an irate customer waiting who had been shouting at my hairdresser to ask what was taking so long. I felt more comfortable not having the wash, because I wanted to leave. But when it came to paying, I was charged the same price as though I had had a wash, when in reality it was only a dry cut. When I turned down the wash, he didn’t explain to me then that it would cost the same price, therefore not giving me the option to take it anyway. I cannot stress how horrible this experience was - I have never had anything like this before. Avoid this salon like the plague.
