The staff were friendly, their service was quick and they did a good job of my nails, they look really good.
HOWEVER, there's a big downside. I booked and paid for a "Gel Nails manicure", and was given an acrylic manicure instead. I stopped them when they started applying acrylics, said I'd booked for Gel nails and couldn't have acrylics as my skin has a slight allergic reaction to acrylics. Told them I've had Gel before and this obviously wasn't Gel. I was told that my previous nails were "Hot Gel" and that they don't do "Hot Gel", but this was "powder gel". I was very suspicious, I've never heard of powder gel, but as I'd clearly stated my allergy, I figured I should be able to trust them, and let them finish the nails.
Turns out, I should have stopped them, these are definitely acrylics. I'm lucky my allergy is very slight, my skin just gets very itchy for a few hours. Enough to be super annoying, not enough to make removal of the nails worth it.
I am torn as everything else about the service was good, and the shop is in a convenient location. I just can't understand why they needed to lie to me. Was the extra 6 pound for "gel" really worth lying to a client and potentially putting them at risk not knowing how allergic they were?
