My manicure ended up looking okay, but Chi used acrylic powder and lied and said it was ‘gel powder’ and ‘the same as gel’, which, after years of both acrylic and gel manicures, I’m aware of the difference. The result was a thicker nail surface than I’d hoped for and there are visible bubbles where the acrylic wasn’t applied well. In addition, the gel removal was damaging to my nail bed. She opts to sand off the old gel rather than wait the appropriate amount of time for the gel to disolve.
