I normally colour my own hair but as a birthday treat I decided to get it done at this salon. What a mistake! I really wanted to like this salon, as it is so local to me, but had such an awful experience.
I have mid brown hair and asked for a colour a shade lighter than my natural hair. I had 3 inches of regrowth so you could see my natural colour. I was shown a colour which I agreed on. When my hair was finished it was nearly black with two particularly dark streaks at the front. There had been no streaks in my hair prior to this and it didn't match the colour I had been shown.
I hate causing a fuss and so left the salon, washed my hair twice at home and dried it. It was so bad I called them to complain. They asked me to come back later that day.
When I returned I was made to feel like a naughty school girl. As if I somehow hadn't been clear in what I had asked for and I was berated for washing my hair. They offered to put it right. A lighter colour was applied to my hair. When it was dried off it was a little lighter but a dark brown, not the light brown I had wanted. I was made to feel so uncomfortable that I didn't want to complain again. I was told I should leave my hair for a week to see the true colour.
Several days later the colour was still the same, I emailed the salon who told me I should come in. I didn't want to go through the humiliation again. When I had returned the last time one of the owners friends was staring at me and not even trying to hide it! Perhaps I was being paranoid but I felt like they were talking about me behind my back. It was really unpleasant.
I ended up having to remove the hair colour at home. Unfortunately as they had tried to bleach my hair to counteract the dark colour, when the colour was removed I had a yellow/ginger colour which I then had to correct. What a nightmare. It ended up costing me money to correct their mistake. Unfortunately there was nothing Treatwell could do about it.
This salon is probably fine for eyebrow threading and nails.
Usually treatments here are very good. Unfortunately they seem to have hired a lady who isn't very good. I had a pedicure and it was very painful. The lady was very rough and even cut my skin. I will still go back as generally treatments are very good but I will not let that lady treat me again...I'm sure Cher will have noticed she isn't good though and replaced her!
This week was my first experience going to Good Hair. I took my 3.5 year-old daughter for her first haircut. I have heard good things about the salon from a couple of friends and thought I would give it a go. I can't express how happy I am with the care, attention, and kindness that the WHOLE staff showed for my daughter. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by Marie's huge smile, to being introduced to all the team that was there that day, everybody made my daughter (who was a bit hesitant about the whole thing) feel calm and made her have fun with the whole thing. We had cher as our hair stylist and she was absolutely amazing with my daughter. She didn't push her, she made the appointment fun, she made her laugh and she even gave her some "sparkles" for her hair (which my daughter wanted so badly).
We will definitely be regular customers moving forward and look forward to becoming part of the Good Hair community and participate in the different events that they offer.
