Cedar Falls Health Spa

Cedar Falls is a personal retreat where you make the rules and is one of the most comprehensive health farms in the UK. The choice of bespoke health spa & detox treatments will depend on your mood but all will maximise nature’s organic power to relax, rejuvenate & recharge your senses. Nourishment for the mind, body and soul is guaranteed at this leading health farm, as is a child-free and stress-free environment, not to mention a truly life enriching experience.

Cedar Falls delivers the unexpected to rework the traditional perception of what a health farm can offer. As you lay relaxed by the pool, play a round of golf or simply enjoy a pamper day, the outside world will seem a million miles away. Rushing simply isn't an option. There is, however, plenty to do if you want to be active: croquet, a Somerset golf course, swimming, gym, exercise classes, even archery.

Dating back to the 1700's the main house emanates understated English style at its most elegant and with the range of UK health spa treatments, therapeutic massages and detox treatments coupled with lush grounds encompassing secluded woodland, tranquil lakes and immaculate gardens, you could think that you were a million miles from civilisation. If you’ve never tried it before, pop down for a sauna and swim just before bedtime and you will be left incredibly relaxed. Don’t worry, we’ll wake you in time for breakfast!

Have visited Cedar Falls a few times but wouldn't really recommend it highly - it's the nearest large spa to where I live which is why I have been more than once! When I last visited the gym was looking very tatty. I was given the wrong massage and when I queried it, the therapist said she didn't know how to do the one I'd requested! My friend was told she couldn't have a particular facial (which she has on a regular basis in London) because she was diabetic.. eventually they agreed to do it but with poor grace.
Food was okay but on my last visit there was a power cut and so there was no hot food available.
The setting is gorgeous but I got the feeling that the staff, while pleasant enough, were just going through the motions and we, the clients, were on a bit of a conveyor belt.

Have heard on the grapevine that some of the therapists call it 'Seedy Falls' which is a bit damning.

I visited Cedar falls with my sister over a weekend in August. I really enjoyed it in that 'country house hotel' sort of way but felt like the spa and fitness facilities could've used a bit of an update. The staff was really lovely and sweet and made a big difference, but overall Cedar Falls fell down on the entire 'attention to detail' side of things. For example, my mother had left us each a £50 gift voucher at the front desk for us to treat ourselves to additional therapies. Unfortunately we never got the vouchers! And my poor mother wound up calling them from Canada and having to bother them for a refund.

The decor at Cedar Falls is a bit out of date and our room was less than luxurious. The food was alright but nothing special, and the continual MOR music in the dining hall was a bit distracting when trying to relax! On the plus side the archery classes were good as were the tennis courts, and it's a lovely area of the countryside to explore. There is a decent sized pool and soak tub and a gorgeous solarium for chilling. I did, however, find that the choices of fitness classes were very limited - there was a lot of cardio but no yoga or pilates offered over the weekend, and the only relaxation class was called 'relaxation CD', which consisted of one of the instructors turning on the CD player in the workout studio.

The most memorable bit of the weekend for me were two long power walks through the beautiful countryside, guided by friendly staff. I should also say that the therapies on offer were comprehensive and the therapists were good and knowledgeable, if not stellar.

I had a fun weekend at Cedar Falls and I definately returned home more relaxed, but for the money I'm not sure I'd go again - I think it needs a bit of an ungrade and someone to show them how to pay closer attention to the little details.

Very funny - i love the "Relaxation CD" class...i may have to find one like that in London.
one question for you - what's "MOR" music?

That would be 'Middle of the Road' music - which meant an endless stream of Lionel Ritchie in the dining room!
