excellent treatment
Okay so, I rarely leave reviews as detailed as this but I do read other people’s so I know what to expect and I feel a duty to share this. I have been for a lot of treatments in my time. This was definitely the strangest and most uncomfortable one I’ve had. Firstly, do be aware that this salon is tucked up in a run down building next to a pole dancing class. I had to first buzz and wait to get in the lower entrance above a Chinese restaurant and then knock the door once I’d gone up the stairs. The place looked a bit run down from the outside. I was welcomed in by the woman who was to do my treatment and told they’d run out of consultation forms so it’d be a verbal consultation which I’ve never experienced before. I’d booked in for a deep tissue as I’d had some pain in my shoulder, and this is what I wanted. I told the therapist this and she decided that actually I should have a mix of hot stone, Thai and deep tissue. Which I found odd. Usually I just book what I want, but I took her advice. I went in to the treatment room, which was really dark and dusty feeling. It just felt dingy to be honest. It had old carpets and wasn’t very clean. So anyway, I get changed and lie down and my therapist comes in. I’ve never had a Thai massage before so imagine my surprise when she got up on the table and started rolling her body around on top of my back! Once that part of the ordeal was over, she started some of the hot stone treatment, supplemented by about two litres of oil. I was dripping in the stuff which I think is really yucky feeling in such vast quantities. Once the therapist starts doing the hot stone, she keeps exclaiming that my “shoulder blades are totally out of place.” Now, I have never heard this in all the time I have been treated by any professional. She said they were “too high up” and insisted that I must’ve had an accident. When I said I hadn’t (bear in mind this is all mid massage when I’m slathered in oil) she said I must’ve just been “born that way”. It was not a relaxing experience, to put it mildly. Once the treatment was over, she proceeded to sort of scrub the excess oil off my skin with what can only be described as blu-roll- the scratchy paper towels that industrial kitchens use for mopping up spills. I left it a few weeks before leaving this review as I didn’t actually want to get the usual Treatwell £5 off voucher for leaving a review because I don’t want to be seen to gain out of this. I get that this might just be the way the treatments are done here, and that’s absolutely fine! It’s really just not my cup of tea and I know there will be others who will look at reviews and decide where they should go for their treatment so I just wanted to be totally honest so others can make a decision with all the information. Namaste.
Very good, they did a mix of deep tissue and hot stone which was exactly what my muscles needed.
Great visit. Very relaxing environment.
Booked and prepaid weeks in advance (and confirmed through Treatwell) turned up to a closed salon (despite during working hours), eventually someone answered the door and no record of appointment and was not particularly helpful. VERY disappointing as I was getting the body wrap ahead of an event and had no time to make other arrangements. would not recommend
