I had a really lovely stay at the Hallmark Hotel. I went with my friend and we chose the Sunday package. The value for money was really good - it costed us £69 each which included: Use of the spa, 1 treatment each, hotel room for the night, a 3 course meal and breakfast. We checked in without any issues and then went down to the spa. There was no one on the desk at the spa so we had to wait a while. I then had a neck, shoulders and back massage which was really nice and relaxing. The spa itself wasn't amazing but we still enjoyed it - it has a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, aromatherapy room and a chill out room with deck chairs. The spa closed at 8pm and we then got ready and went to dinner. We didn't know what to expect but were told our voucher entitles us to a 3 course meal and we could choose anything from the menu. The food was really nice and there was lots to choose from on the menu. The service was a bit slow but we weren't in a rush so we didn't mind. The hotel room was really nice but it was far too hot and we couldn't find a way to turn the heating down. We opened the windows but still found it difficult to sleep as it was so warm. When we went the breakfast the next morning, the dining room was also boiling hot! Apart from that I have no complaints! Breakfast was nice - it was a buffet with hot foods, pastries, cereals, toast, yoghurts etc. After breakfast we went back to the spa until 1pm (they said we could stay in there all day if we wanted to) so we were definitely able to get our money's worth of the spa! Overall we had such a lovely stay here and I would definitely come back! The deal was also great value for money and I would recommend.
What a great team, had a fantastic facial and they even managed to get my short 'working' nails looking glam. Would go back - just not stay at the hotel or bother with the spa
Small dirty changing rooms only big enough for about 6 people to change in with only 2 provate changing rooms, despite the fact that the spa had about 40 people in that day. Not enough lockers, spa area very dated and not very clean either, no separate toilet facilities, dangerous slippery wet floor. Far too much chlorine in pool and jacuzzi, mineral cave with no minerals, slow service in the restaurant, no plain scones availlable at afternoon tea despite saying on the menu that there was a choice of plain or fruit. The massage and manicure were good but that is the only positive about this place.
Wonderful treatment and spa time at the hallmark
We waited for quite a while to be seen to and no one seemed to know we were booked in... The staff seemed to think we hadn't booked? But rather than look into it just asked us '...do you have any proof?' There were also no robes so we had to wear our wet towels everywhere which was a shame. The facilities were good and I enjoyed my massage but again, at afternoon tea. We sat down and weren't seen to and when we asked - 'yeah but did you book?' Yes. 'You know the spa day is separate and you have to pay for afternoon tea' yes we did and we booked it. Rather than again, looking into it - the man seemed a little accusatory. Not happy with this. Shame about the staff and their organisation as the day was great other than this.
