This was our 3rd visit, lovely sized room, food good as always and a nice relaxing massage/spa break. We don't live local, but will be back again next year !
Arriving at the hotel we were told to go down stairs to the spa. We were given a towel and told where the changing rooms were. It was a tiny narrow room, no locker keys, no robes or slippers. Only 1 shower with cold water and only 1 hairdryer. The changing room was very shabby. When we saw others with robes, we went and asked for them. The spa pool was nice, the jacuzzi was very hot. Can not fault the head massage, it was lovely. When we went for our cream tea we were told that we needed a voucher which we hadn’t been given on arrival. The staff sorted this out and we went to sit up in the bar. Waited 30 mins for our ‘cream tea’ to arrive. Only 1 scone each. We ordered some chips because we were hungry, when they came we asked for tomato sauce or mayo to go with them and were told that there were no sauces available. Not even salt. They waitress, who was apologetic, said that she could see we were disappointed and didn’t charge for the chips. The Aromatherapy cave was very nice and the staff were helpful. We moved from the spa changing room to the changing rooms by the gym where there were 2 showers with hot water but still only 1 hairdryer and cramped. We made the best of our day but felt that it was not good value for money and even though the staff were friendly, it could have been a lot better.
I took my partner for a relaxed night and roughly everything failed at some level. The hotel shouldn't even be on a Spa website (Spaseekers) as it doesn't provide the comfort or the ambience that a Spa should. The hotel is old and not comfortable enough, it was under massive refurbishment, the staff was not professional enough (specially the cleaners), the inside pool wasn't cosy and the restaurant is only mid-range (we even had to send or steak back for a second attempt).
I wouldn't recommend at all and it surprises me how SpaSeekers is offering such a product. It makes me questioning their concept, not sure if I would go back to them.
