Fab staff, lovely location, great food, clean & comfortable room, excellent service. Only downside being the state of the grounds.

I don’t in any way blame the individuals who work here but the management and ownership. There’s no interest shown by the staff and clearly minimal training. 3 questions on the menu were responded by ‘let me ask the chef’ and they were general questions about items on the menu. Spa staff very helpful and good at what they do. Hotel needs a clean desperately in all areas apart from reception. I hate being someone who writes a review like this but I feel if people who have had similar experiences to me do not review the bad then changes will never happen. This is our second time here and it was much worse than the first.

My husband and I received a warm welcome in the spectacular hotel foyer before being directed through to the restaurant for a deliciously filling cream tea. The rest of our experience was equally enjoyable. We found the room comfortable and clean, the evening meal extremely tasty, the breakfast a veritable feast, the spa facilities delightful and the massage very thorough. Every member of staff was first class and a real credit to the establishment; we had an amazing experience overall. The only disappointment was the ill-kept grounds, a simple mown path through the thistles and nettles would have at least provided the opportunity for a stroll in the advertised '9 acres of mature parkland'.
