I booked a deep cleansing facial, in the description it mentioned a consultation to tailor it to you. "The best way to know what you need is to book yourself in and the beautician will guide you through what’s suited for you. Simple!"
I was never given the consultation, I was asked if I had any allergies and I replied no and then tried to speak about my concerns with my skin which was dismissed. I was then told about the run through with the facial, which included a cleanse, massage, steam, extraction, ultrasound and then two masks. Nothing was tailored to my skin or my concerns and it was very much one facial fits all. Which is fine if that's what you're after however don't market it as an individual tailored service.
The massage was incredible - super relaxing and lovely. However she dimmed the lights for it and then the next step was extraction where she flicked the lights up bright and then put a spot light over my face to see my blackheads more clearly, which was really uncomfortable on my eyes. I don't know if I would have gone ahead with the facial if I'd have known there was extraction involved as my skin is really delicate and I get broken capillaries easy and the pressure she used to get blackheads out was extreme and really uncomfortable. The rest of the facial was ok, a pore cleansing mask which stung but wasn't too bad and then a facial oil. She left during one of the masks to let it sit on my face and I heard her go to the bathroom next door and flush the toilet and then come back in and wash her hands and dry them on the towel I was laying on. Not awful but it kills the relaxation and it's a bit unprofessional.
When she said the facial was over I looked up and checked the time and it was 6:15 which meant I only had 1 hour 15 minutes when it's meant to be 1 hour 30. This is what annoyed me the most as the facial oil was slapped on at the end really quickly when it could have been put on more slowly and massaged in to round it up to 1 hour 30, and would have ended the facial on a nice relaxing note when to be honest I felt like the relaxing part of the facial was over really quickly and the rest of it was just laying there in slight discomfort. When I was putting my clothes back on I had a look at the products she used and they looked very cheap and it all just seemed a bit disappointing.
If you are looking for this type of facial then great it is good value for money and everything was really clean and the massage was amazing. However if you are looking for a facial which is tailored to your needs and where you can have a consultation beforehand then this is not the place for you.
