The manicure was done in what seemed like a waiting area. The manicurist only applied one coat of colour, which I found a little odd as usually 2 are applied... The manicure lasted for a few days & if I'd have paid full price for this, I would have been disappointed.
There was a meal included in our offer. The meal was reasonably nice, but watch out for the cost of drinks! The bellinis (which were at best average) were £14 each: happily, I was in good company so the experience was overall, an enjoyable one.
The staffs are quite courteous and the lunch is quite good value for money. The only thing is that the nail polish is in poor quality. The receptionists from the hotel actually ignored us when we walked pass which is a shame because it actually takes the shine off the overall experience.
Went to the Athenaeum for the two-course lunch and mini-manicure deal, which was excellent value for the cost. Booking was simple and the staff very helpful (unlikea certain other venue not too far away!). The spa was peaceful and the therapist was friendly and took her time shaping my nails which I'd deliberately let grow. She left them a reasonable length and a slightly squared-off shape, not something I'd have done myself but it's worked well and they haven't broken off as they tend to do. The only problem was the polish: the colour range was somewhat restricted, the lighting wasn't brilliant (the manicurist was working in her own light) and the end result wasn't very good and I had to remove it when I got home.
Lunch was excellent and really good: you could have either starter + main course or main + dessert and the staff were attentive without being intrusive. Would definitely go back for lunch at least.
the manicure was mini. but the therapist was great. and the facilities was wonderful. i would go back. lunch and manicure were good value. great way to spend an afternoon. even without a voucher its good value and a good venue to know.
This was absolutely lovely. I had a nice manicure, then had lunch in the restaurant of this 5 star boutique hotel near Hyde Park. The spa is tiny but all shiny and new and the restaurant is real fine dining. They do a set lunch 2 courses for £15 which includes coffee and homemade truffles so I will definitely be returning. A real treat for a tired mummy.
