I had chosen a 1.5 hour deep tissue massage and the staff Tania never consulted on how I wanted my treatment or any preferences. I had to specifically tell her a few times that I was sore in these places. She was effective but not specific. Overall all the staff seemed a tad brusque as if not really interested in trying to meet your expectation or wanting to provide a service.
This was my second visit to Amiika spa and it did not disappoint. The therapist was friendly and helped me relax. The massage was excellent again (-really good pressure) and I left feeling a hundred times better than when I had arrived. Tea at the end is a really nice touch! Will definitely be back!
This was a very weird experience. When I arrived the registration form was misprinted so the boxes didn’t match the medical descriptions which was unprofessional and poor health and safety practice. The therapist took me to the treatment room and told me to get undressed and left, there was so consultation relating to what pressure I liked, where I was carrying tension, the structure the massage would take... there was no discussion of anything I ticked on the registration form regarding health issues. The massage was initially through a towel, and there was no oil, no spa music, just the noise of a fan heater which was awkward and not relaxing. Eventually the massage involved oil which felt very cheap and silky and was not absorbed by the skin. The pressure was very firm on sensitive areas such as the neck and arms which was painful and then soft and boring on the back, only working on one area at a time. At the end the therapist sat me up, sat behind me on the table and massaged my back with a hot towel whilst I tried to cover myself up at the front. Overall, very bizarre experience. Would not recommend trying this place.
