My name is Amanda Joy I am a massage therapist with over 20 years of experience. Please allow me to share with you a little about who I am and the skills I offer. I have qualified in many different specialist areas of massage. I have a large range of qualifications and training. My qualifications range from very gentle Aroma Touch to Deep Tissue, Sports, Thai and Acupressure Massage. Body and energy work has been a love, passion, hobby and job for a long time. I tend to create bespoke treatments that incorporate a fusion of techniques styles and approaches. As an experienced clinical hypnotherapist, I’ve been blessed to have helped many people reach their goals, overcome fears phobias and let go of unwanted thoughts and behaviour. Personal development, Hypnotherapy and Meditation have been part of my own personal journey and as a therapist, I enjoy empowering my clients by giving them the skills and tools they need to move forward in their lives. My background is in care work and Nursing. For many years I cared for patients who were quadriplegic, ventilated and who had neurological pain. This led me to train in NLP and have an interest in working to reduce pain of all types. I now specialise and offer massage for people with Fibromyalgia, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, Post Viral Fatigue Syndromes, Parkinson’s and Chronic Pain. I offer different styles of Pregnancy Massage, Hydrotherm and a range of deeply relaxing treatments too. I often combine massage treatments with clinical hypnotherapy and meditation. My unique approach addresses the mind and body as a whole. I truly believe the answers to all our challenges in life are within us and with a holistic approach, I feel I can offer the solutions to multitudes of issues. I often work with people who have depression or who are experiencing a wide variety of negative emotions. I have a background in working with people in recovery. I have worked within the NHS as a smoking cessation adviser for pregnancy and mental wellbeing. I'm passionate about helping people to change negative behaviours that could be worsening their health. Drinking too much, addictions, poor eating and sleepless nights. I beleive that Hypnotherapy gets to the root of the problem whilst clients feel warm nurtured and very relaxed. I am a Hypnoslimmer consultant. I help people to address and overcome food addictions, reconnect with food in a positive way and reduce their body shape and size. I also offer the Hypnotic Gastric Band. I love helping people to build their confidence, self-esteem, motivation, set objectives and give them clarity and perspective in their lives. I have been teaching weekly meditation classes in Harrogate since I got back to the UK from Saudi Arabia. I'm currently running retreats around Yorkshire. My retreats are a mix of meditation, yoga and ceremony that focus on Kindfulness and community. All my experiences have led me to my current focus and work in the area of natural fertility and positive birthing. I was inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine methods and other experiences whilst travelling. Whilst in the middle east I studied traditional birthing methods. On arriving home I trained and specialised in obstetrics and hypnobirthing. I am also the author of Joy in Birthing hypnobirthing antenatal course. Love and light Amanda Joy.
