I would support the other comments regarding the difficulty in booking as I tired a few times and left messages and no one called me back. My friend managed to get through in the end. I would recommend you just keep trying, perhaps in the afternoon. However, that was the only down side the spa experience itself we couldn't fault. Staff were extremely friendly and professional. We all had the 30 minute Swedish massage, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The facilities were great and everywhere was very clean. We had afternoon tea included in the package, we would definitely recommend this although we were very full after. There was more than enough for us. Overall fantastic experience and we are looking to book again very soon.

1) The whole process of making a group booking was extremely difficult. Emails were ignored, calls were unsuccessful, and the means of making payment to the hotel was near impossible. Some of the group thus ended up having to make bookings through the Treatwell website due to a severe lack of response from the hotel. Over the course of 3 months I individually contacted 3 members of staff directly, and the arrangements I had strived to confirm ended up being a complete mess. If it were not for my persistence we would not have attended the spa at all.
2) There were no parking facilities available, and we had one disabled attendee - this was awful.
3) When we arrived on the day for our treatments, we were advised that the spa was "fully booked", and that the spa could only accommodate a 30 minute treatment per person in the group, although we had raised on several occasions the firm fact that we wished to have 1 hour treatments, and made contact with the spa 3 months in advance to ensure such availability. The booking process was horrendous and we were waiting around for long periods of time on the day in facilities that were not at all relaxing.
4) the sauna was out of service and this was very inconvenient, especially given how busy the spa was that day. The jaquzzi and steam room were so small that there was really not enough to do over the several hours that we attended the facilities. There should really be a maximum capacity in place - this is supposed to be a classy establishment, not a council-style pool!
5) there were not enough seats/beds in the spa area for the number of attendees. Again, having a disabled person within the group this was highly inconvenient.
6) hotel guests were in the spa area including 3 very annoying children who repetitively dove from the jaquzzi into the pool for hours (extremely dangerous to say the least), unattended, made lots of noise and ruined the very little ambience that we were able to enjoy on our spa day. Hotel supervisory checks/quality assurance provisions were non-existent.
7) when we were taken for our afternoon tea we were left waiting for long periods of time; we received tea and coffee with no milk (I had to go find someone to get this), and were were not visited again after the food was delivered to enable us to order any additional items. The restaurant area was not busy enough to justify this lack of service.

As a group we spent over £500 for this spa booking (which should have been closer to £630 but the hotel messed-up the treatment times) and we had a really awful day which was not at all worth our time or money. I doubt we would book with you again.

I had booked a spa day with cream tea at the Hyatt as a treat for my mother's birthday. When we arrived I was surprised to find that the changing area in the spa was being refurbished on that day, so there was wet paint, workmen hammering etc - not exactly a nice and peaceful spa environment! I had booked the spa day several weeks in advance and the hotel staff never mentioned that any work was being carried out on that day.

The toilets were dirty and couldn't be locked and the shower facilities were quite basic. Once we entered the pool area things were marginally better, but the pool also looked like it had seen better days with green moss growing along the sides. When we entered the sauna there was a man shaving in there, which was also pretty disgusting. All in all I was very disappointed with the spa facilities and quite upset to have chosen this venue as a birthday treat for my mother.

Luckily, the massages we had booked as part of the spa package were excellent and the cream tea in the hotel was also very nice, so that saved the day. The staff were all very nice and helpful and I did receive £15 off the price of one of the massages when I complained, but this didn't really make up for the overall fairly mediocre experience and I sadly I have to say that I would not visit the Amala spa again in future.

On arrival at the spa, the member of staff on the desk did not seem to understand why we had come to the desk to register our arrival for the spa day. She seemed to think that her job was only to book treatments - as crazy as this may sound, from the way she was responding to us, she didn't seem to understand what a spa day was.
There was no record of our booking on her computer, meaning that presumably there had been no communication between Treatwell and Amala.
When we asked the member of staff basic questions such as whether lunch was included in the spa day, she had to text her manager to get the answers.
The final straw came when we saw a woman with two children walk towards the swimming pool, and we were told that because the pool was open to all hotel guests, it was therefore open to children too. I have been to several spas around the country and not once have children been around.

I e-mailed Treatwell on Monday 1st August and I have not yet received a response (Thurs 4th). If, 14 days after sending the e-mail, I have still heard nothing - I have requested a full refund, as we did not use the spa that day - I shall attempt to contact by phone. If this fails, I will send a postal letter giving another 14 days' notice before contacting trading standards.

Enjoyed the massage. Staff on the phone weren't very efficient when I was trying to book the treatment. Spa facilities need to be cleaned regularly though- hair in the swimming pool and on top of the drainage for the Jacuzzi. As no robe and slippers are offered, the area around the swimming pool was very slippery without flip flops.

My daughter and myself had a fantastic Mother and daughter day. The spa and afternoon tea were excellent. We were really looked after. This was our second visit and will definitely be retuning. Ten out of ten.
